🏏ICC T20I Men's WC 2024: Warm Up match between India and Bangladesh at New York on June 01, 2024 at 8;00PM IST🏏

BAN vs IND, T20 World Cup Warm-up: Match Prediction, Dream11 Team, Fantasy Tips & Pitch Report | India vs Bangladesh 2024

India (IND) and Bangladesh (BAN) cross swords in a T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up tie at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, on Saturday, June 01.

India played their last T20I series in January at home against Afghanistan and won 3-0. The Indian players have had enough T20 experience in the last couple of months, having played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Meanwhile, apart from Mustafizur Rahman, no other Bangladeshi player played in the IPL. The Bangla Tigers won a home series against Zimbabwe 4-1. Recently, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Co. suffered a massive upset as they lost a three-match T20I series against the USA by a 1-2 margin.

India and Bangladesh have played some close encounters in recent years. Fans can expect an intriguing encounter on Saturday.

Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York Pitch Report

The pitch is expected to be batting-friendly. The outfield is made from Kentucky bluegrass, while the drop-in pitches are made of Tahoma Bermuda grass. The pitches have been built under the instructions of Damian Hough from Adelaide Oval. The weather could be on the cloudy side and some rain interruptions may also frustrate the fans.

IND vs BAN Probable Best Performers

Probable Best Batter: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant

The wicketkeeper-batter had a stellar IPL season with the bat, having amassed 446 runs 13 matches at an average of 40.55 and a strike rate of 155.40. He scored three half-centuries in what was his comeback season after suffering a near-fatal car accident in December 2022. If Pant can continue his IPL form, it will stand India in good stead.

Probable Best Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah was in red-hot form during IPL 2024 and was the only bright spot for Mumbai Indians. In 13 matches, he took 20 wickets at 16.80. Bumrah will look to take confidence from his impeccable showing in the IPL and excel for India in the T20 World Cup.

Opening Combination

"Who will open -- the left-right combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma or because Virat Kohli is there, so he should open?" said Manjrekar in his first point.

India may foremost think of having one left-hander and one right-hander at the top, which automotically books Jaiswal one of the opening slot. The toss-up will then be between Rohit and Virat, who has opened successfully in the format for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League. But will Rohit be comfortable batting at No. 3 or will the team stick with the tried and tested formula and let Virat continue to bat at No. 3?

Manjrekar pointed at anonther interesting possibility. "Maybe Yashasvi Jaiswal is not in the playing XI (when tournament begins), that I think might be a solution."

The warm-up game permits the teams to utilise all 15 players in their respective squads.

The choice of wicketkeeper-batsman

"Who are you looking to prefer, Sanju Samson on Rishabh Pant? I feel the earlier you bring Pant back in India colours in this tournament the better. Maybe it starts with the warm-up match," reckoned Manjrekar.

"We know what we get with Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja (option to bat deep). Kuldeep Yadav is in very good form. (Yuzvendra) Chahal in India colours is one of their main spinners. His form waned a little towards the end of the Indian Premier League; but there is no connection, domestic league vs international, where the batters are under a little tension. Chahal might have a good time. So Chahal's form, it will be crucial," said Manjrekar.

"All that you have to look to address in the warm-up match," he said on a concluding note.
