India Vs Pakistan (from Group A):

For India, today's match will be an opportunity to bounce back from a heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the first game, a match where the ladies in blue gave up on their big advantage in the second innings and were undone by a Harris-Gardner special. Pakistan put up a solid fight against Barbados, helped by a Nida Dar 50*, but fell short by 15 runs. What will hurt Pakistan more is that their best player from that day - Dar - has suffered a concussion.

Their respective defeats in their opening games mean that today's match could potentially be a do-or-die for both sides. With prospective washouts at the cricket through the CWG, it is possible to qualify with just one win, but it is quite unlikely.

We have a weather update, and it is not pretty: The drizzle has got heavier, the ground staff have stopped their prep work, and the players are not warming up. Unlikely to have the toss at 10.30am (as per original schedule), so watch this space. An update about playing conditions: every game (except the gold-medal match) has an extra 30 minutes allotted to make up for delays. That means we'll start losing overs if the game starts 30 minutes after the scheduled start time of 11am.

CONFIRMED: Toss is delayed due to wet conditions. Paul at the ground says that he can spot the umpires talking to the ground staff. He also says that drizzle has gotten lighter and can spot a bit of sun. That's good news.
