So right now, KXIP, RCB and RPS are out of contention - is that right? Or are there still forced results that could preserve any of them - aside from winning each & every remaining match of theirs?

RCB can still qualify if KKR and MI lose every match from here on. They have already played each other twice.

Looking at strategies, RPS has imploded by losing all of KP, Faf & Steve Smith. None of the replacements are really inspiring. Bailey @ #3 - seriously?

KKR figured out the perfect lineup - Gauti & Uthappa, followed by Yusuf and then depending on the state of the match, either Russell (if after over 10) or Manish Pandey & Suryakumar if b4. But the last match popped the idea that the last 2 are top order batsmen.

DD finally figured out that Samson is not an opener, and put him @ #4, where he belongs. But Rishab Pant should have remained an opener, while Samson could have been the regular keeper, particularly since De Kock is as unpredictable as Amla. Shreyas Iyer does fit in the team, but as a middle order bat, not as an opener.

KXIP made all the wrong moves from the start. Rather than Miller, it was worth trying Marsh for captain, who had been w/ them from day 1. Also, Saha should have been #3 throughout the tournament - Marsh was the wrong choice there. In fact, Marsh should - while he was still active - have batted behind Maxi. And Amla demonstrated why he was rightly excluded from the IPL to date - he's too inconsistent and fails against the most mediocre attacks

MI has really puzzled everyone by persisting w/ Josh Buttler, who's not had a great match at all, while struggling w/ their opening. Buttler should have been substituted by Guptill, and maybe in some matches, Pollard w/ Anderson. Guptill could have opened w/ either Rohit or Parthiv, depending on the situation.

RCB - while some might ding Kohli for being publicly disrespectful of Gayle, it's a bit obvious that the latter is way past his best, and was rightly excluded in every match that he was. But I don't get opening w/ Rahul when Watto is around. As far as the bowling goes, they need to let go of Aaron and perhaps even Dinda. Since it was known from the start that Starc wasn't available, they should have tried someone like Shaun Tait (now in KKR)

SRH seems to have finally found the right balance after replacing Morgan w/ Williamson. But the batting is still too dependent on Warner, and once he goes, the rest of the batting folds. Although Dhawan has been more stable of late. Mustafizur has practically locked out Boult from the side, although if they can get an extra Indian batsman, Boult could replace Henriques in a few matches.

GL has been working miracles, but lost some strange contests. But they certainly look like the successors of CSK, even w/o MSD.

Which of the IPL sides are there that have nobody from their domestic team?

KKR is one - since Dada's exclusion, even the other Bongs in the team - Manoj Tiwary, Ashok Dinda, Debabrata Das, Srivats Goswami are all gone to either other teams or nowhere.

GL - are there any Saurashtra or Baroda players in this team?

DD - any Delhi players left? Kohli is in RCB, Ishant, Bhatia & Nehra RPS, Gauti KKR, Sehwag KXIP,... anyone else?

The other 5 teams seem to have at least one of their local players in the side - Rahane in RPS, Gurkeerat in KXIP, Rohit & Rayudu in MI, Ashish Reddy in SRH, Chahal in RCB

Anyone I left out?

For GL, I totally forgot the great Sir Ravindra!!! I didn't get your Jaydev Shah reference - is that the son of Niranjan Shah? You said daughter

KKR I knew - it has lost every Bengal player it had - and I'm not sure it ever had any from the neighboring states. Incidentally, as far as Orissa goes, Cuttack used to be an alternate home of Deccan Chargers - not sure whether that remained once that became SRH

For KXIP, and other franchises, I did mean guys from the states covered by the franchises. For KXIP, it would include J&K, HP & Haryana. For Delhi, it would include UP, MP and so on.

For RPS, is Rahane a Mumbai or a (rest of) Maharashtra player? There used to always be a Bombay vs Maharashtra rivalry in the Ranji trophy, and a rivalry b/w Mumbaikars & Punekars. Hence my question - is Rahane from Mumbai or outside?

So KKR, and to an extent RPS, are the only sides that have no local players in their squads?

Lol Sorry for the blooper. 😆 I was talking to someone else while typing this and made a mess. 🤣 I meant son . Jaydev has no talent but selected only on the basis of nepotism.
Like the Deputy CM of Bihar was once a squad member of DD. 😆

Rahane plays for Mumbai. No Maharashtra ranji team player in there.
The only significant Maharashtra Ranji team player is Kedar Jadhav who is in RCB.

A question, Is GL and RPS only there for two years or will they officially be a part of all IPL seasons?
