CORRUPTION IN CRICKET

Spot fixing allegations are an attempt to micro-manage cricket, and impossible to prove. How do you prove that a no-ball is deliberate, or that a batsman, after some lofty hits, has slowed down b'cos he was paid to do it? Let's say one was hitting the all all around the park, but suddenly decided that with the scores running stable, he'd do well to pull back on the risky shots and just play safe shots, and avoiding any hooks, pulls or other shots that could get him caught. Is such a person doing it to enrich a bookie, or just using his common sense?

I don't think this is an issue at all, and if bookies are stupid enough to try getting rich based on single events @ particular stages of a game, let them. I think Rashid Latif is just too full of himself, and is groping for an issue that keeps him in the headlines. I'm not a fan of the Paki team @ all - these days, it's just marginally superior to Bangladesh, but I don't think they ought to be banned for this issue.

No. If they are found to be fixing complete results, then by all means, do what was done to Cronje, Azharuddin, Salim Malik, et al. But for deciding to do something like bowling the 5th ball of the 17th over a no-ball just to enrich a bookie, don't bother.
