Hello everyone,

I don't come to this section😳...but I need help and only you guys can help me at IF.😳

My dad is planning that I go to UK to study grade 12 and onwards. He's asked me to do soem research on schools in UK. Especially in Nottingham.

So please can any of you tell me about schools in UK. just tell me ANYTHING for now.😳 And then later I'd ask a few more questions.😳

And also tell me how are the studies there?

Can you recommened some schools. Especially in Nottingham. And also tell me why are they nice?😳

I want to know about schools generally in UK. And if anyone can provide information on schools in Nottingham, that would be wonderful.😛😊😳

Please help me by giving information.😳

I really need it.😳

Love,

Sumra

I dont no much about Nottingham schools but if you ever think of coming to Manchester I'm here to answer any q! 😳😃

As for the education system here: year 12 here is college - age 16/17 is that the class u wanted? if so, that would be any college or sixth form to do A Levels right?

yes please...sure do tell me about Manchester as well😳...since the top 3 chances are (if I go to UK to study) that I'd go to Glasgow, Nottingham or Manchester...(maybe other cities as well...but they are less likely😳)..........most likely it's Nottinghmam....but who knows?....maybe I might be going to Manchester😳

thx will check out the site😳

Grades are the American way of doing things 😉 We do years and some schools are like the HK way, like mine - we do form 6 and bla as well 😳

As for Manchester:
Top Sixth forms are: Withington Girls' School & Manchester High School for Girls' - both of these are independent schools

Theres also Loretto Sixth Form & Altrincham Girls' School

These are the best ones that I've heard of

And thx so much for helping me😳

Hmm....Sheffield?.....not a bad idea...I don't have a problem though....but depends on parents too na😳........and most probably I think I do't have ANY extended family member living there at all....so Sheffield is less likely....but maybe if I tell dad about how good are the schools there and all, he might think of getting me to a school in Sheffield😳....my parents' careers revovle around the education field....so they look into education really a lot😳...so they wouldn't send me to a city just because my extended family members live there and the school is nearby so it won't be a problem for me and so and so...they would want be to get into a very good school😳....be it in Nottingham or Manchester or Liverpool or Glasgow or Sheffield or anywhere in UK.....but the school shall be giving me proper education and all😳

So please tell me about schools in Sheffield and also about your school...tell me as much as you can please.....because this is really important for me😳

Everyone who's reading this topic....please you are all welcome to PM me or post under this topic to help me out or inform me about the schools in UK and about anything...😳...please this is really important for me😳....and there's little time left for us now....it's already June now😳...so we have to kinda rush...please help me because it's extremely important😳................thanks in advance😳

Okkies about the studies:

Here, i'm not sure if you know, but it's very much all about applying knowledge. Both of the girls' schools i mentioned, they study in quite a bit of depth, to make sure students have the understanding. We do lots of practice papers and both are very academic schools, driven towards getting excellent results.

I'm not too sure about MHSG, since im in WGS. but in WGS, the teachers are very nice! Obviously they vary, but all teachers are ready and willing to help any student out. Most.. lol are also very good which is why WGS is the top school in Manchester

And no, it's not a very strict school. At least not as strict as schools in India that i know of.

In the years, students vary from studious ones to more relaxed ones, but u get that everywhere. Theres no bad behaviour as such, at least it's better than most schools in the UK

umm... any other questions? did i answer them ok? x

My school isn't in Nottingham....so can't help u with that. But talking generally abt the education system here:

I'll say that the 1st year of A-levels which you're going to be starting as Yr12 is probably easier than A2 (Yr 13)

Its mainly based on knowledge and theory which develops futher into the next year. But it also depends on the subjects that you'll be doing.

Do u know what subjects you want to take?
So i cud help you with that..... 😊

yes, you sure did answer them...thx a lot😳......hmm....the thing is I don't know what to ask more (education is a big field....there's a lot for a new student to know😳).....I need a genrally idea of how schools are in UK...and then if someone can tell me about schools in Nottingham that would be good😛...but still if one an't do that...info. on schools in UK is also very much needed😳...

so is there anything else you or anyone can tell me about schools in UK?😳...something important? something a studnet must know? how does a new student get use to the environment in schools in UK?

is there any student in yours or anyone else's class who's from HK? or shifted from another city or country? how did they adjust?😳

anything more can anyone tell?😳

Love,

Sumra
