Well have you heard of Kane and Abel ?
It is an amazing novel
It is about two different people who are quite similar but only want to destroy each other !
I will only say this much 😆

It also has 2 more novels after it !
It is kind of series or even stand alone novels

Born on the same day near the turn of the century on opposite sides of the world, both men are brought together by fate and the quest of a dream. These two men -- ambitious, powerful, ruthless -- are locked in a relentless struggle to build an empire, fuelled by their all-consuming hatred. Over 60 years and three generations, through war, marriage, fortune, and disaster, Kane and Abel battle for the success and triumph that only one man can have.
The description at the back of the novel

As of genre there is no set genre but there is thrill mystery and even family drama
And also romance all in one 😆

Ok, the description--me likey. But I've learned not to trust the backs of books. Thrill and mystery, it's Christmas!
I'll see to it soon.

Try to buy a copy at a bookstore if you can though, or even get the nook book (e-book) from Barnes and Nobles. Trust me, you will want your own legal copy to adorn with highlights and post-its.

Anyways, other books? All of John Green's books (personally love his 'Looking for Alaska' which I feel will be our generation's 'Catcher in the Rye' and I also loved 'An Abundance of Katherines'). Other than John Green, I'd recommend (obviously) the Harry Potter books because they are just perfection, to create your own world and be affiliated with the nooks and crooks of something intangible was certainly commendable on J.K. Rowling's part. Also, "If I Stay" by Gayle something, can't remember her name right now, I think it's Gayle Foreman but I'm not sure. There's also "It's Kind of a Funny Story' by Ned Vizzini. I can't name 'em all but these are probably my most favorite book of contemp. times. From the classics, I like "Pride and Prejudice" and "The Great Gatsby" (the movie sucked so badly, read the book).

I'll let you know if I can think of more mentionable ones, sowwy.

Oh and recently, I've been trying to get a hold of "Fangirl" which I heard is actually a good book by my peers (I made the unforgivable mistake of judging the book by its name, I thought it was a cool name but I for some reason felt that it was going to be Teen-fluff and immature which I've heard it's not). But I haven't read it yet so don't know.

man , you read a lot ! I don't even know the writers you mentioned except jkrowling ofcourse . Thanks sooo much dearo for suggesting all these books 😃 Now I have huge reading list for sure 😉 I read very less books , all harry potters , 2 states and all those kids fairytale and comics 😳 I m nothing in front of u 😆

Shweta - u got me all wrong. The thing with me is, If I read something sad...I stay sad for a few days and slip into depression. So I try and stay away from such stuff..even if it is something excellent. At my point in life, I prefer to find my happy in the books...and not let them affect me. Kids get affected when I am all soppy.😃
I watched Humsafar (Paki show) on some friends recommendation. It has a happy ending but the whole story and the BG music was so gloomy I was upset for 4 days.😆

AWW you have kiddies!!!!
And as for TFiOS, it's not your quintessential "sad-book" it'll leave you bittersweet, yes its sad but the character of Gus and Hazel stay with you and what they stood for. But I respect your choice--watch the movie ok. bas keh diya, so keh diya.

And again, AWW YOU HAVE KIDDIES!
