Hiii guys!

After a long time, we have a discussion! Woop! 😆

***
INTERVIEW SKILLS!
***

Everyone, at least once in their lives, will go through an interview, whether it's to get into a school, university or to get a job.

Although there's no fool-proof technique to adopt in an interview, there are always key things to remember... such as no fidgeting!

Share your interview tips and any situations you've been in, in any interview you've taken 😃

Do you think interviews are necessary?

***

I'm currently waiting for my university interviews and getting more nervous by the second (even though I haven't sent my application off yet! 😆) For me, the interview is the most daunting part of the whole process. It's all about you, with no help from anyone since you are the only person in the room. I really wish I didn't have to interview, but I do think it's very important for you and for the interviewer. (unfortunately 😆)

***
Now its over to your opinions! 😊

Interviews really are a very tough part of life... none of us like them trust me no one does because they are really nerve wrecking especially for those who are not comfortable around new poeple and those who get tensed really easy.

The first and foremost thing is to dress up nicely. I have seen people going for their interviews in jeans. I mean seriously? (Trust me I have nothing against jeans, in fact, that's what I wear most of the time) But interviews should be formal no matter how big or small they are. Remember first impression is really the last impression. They'll think that what would a person do who doesn't even bother dressing up nicely and presenting himself/herself nicely?

Secondly, when you shake hands, make sure it's a firm shake. Some people losely shake hands with the interviewers and that gives out a lousy impression. By firm I don't mean crack their bones 😛😆 Just make firm and not 'dheela' 😛

Be confident. Even if you think that all you're saying is rubbish just be confident about what you're saying. Every word spoken out of your mouth counts but the most important thing is the tone. Even if you think you're not making sense, just be confident and the interviewers will be impressed by your confidence. Just that even if you're nervous to death, just don't show it. I know it's hard but it's necessary.

I agree with Mystery about attire. Make sure it's professional. Yes, interviewers know that you don't always wear dress pants and blouses everyday, but they want to know you have the right attitude towards your career. They don't want be just one of the many universities or job positions you're applying to. They want to be THE one, and wearing professional clothes gives them the idea that you are serious about this.

Secondly, make sure to take a resume with you and offer to give them the resume as soon as you shake hands etc.

Make sure to have some questions prepared to ask them. If applying for a university, do some research on the university (website being a good resource). You could ask questions like "what is the class size?", research opportunities, etc.

Also, remember that you don't need to know everything. If they ask you something that you don't know the answer to, do not BS your way through. Just honestly say that you do not know.

Oh yeah, that's important one. Let me take this opportunity to emphasize that the part about being confident even if you think you're not making in my previous post is meant to be for questions that are meant to be answered. Like sometimes your interviewers will ask you about how you'll deal with a certain situation. You have to answer but you may not be so sure then being confident is great, but if it's a question that more of a factual answer time then you should just say that you don't know.

wonderful tips 👏👏
all i can say is,
~be on time
~stay casual yet professional
~be unusually polite and smiley (make sure they think you like them, even if your really don't)
~show that you are promising, hard working, and intelligent
~this may not work in most cases, but lets say your a teen like me, try looking older, but with professional attire as Mahi mentioned, so that they would consider hiring you more because you look more mature.
