In London, a Mr. Devendra is being welcomed for coming for the opening of a location. Devendra is going to cut the ribbon when his phone rings. it's a call from a Private Number. Devendra picks up and is shocked. He asks if Riddhima is okay and then yells to call the police. He tells Tony, the man who invited him, that someone broke into his house and shot Riddhima, his wife. He runs out and takes his assistant's car when he can't find his car keys. (That makes me suspect the assistant. She so quickly and easily handed over her keys.) Then his wife arrives there. As he's driving out, the car explodes. The assistant runs to meet someone, who shoots her with something, puts her in the back of his car, and drives off. (Ah ha! I was right!)
In Mumbai, 2 days later, a woman, Niharika, is talking to Mona on the phone at the airport. Then she complains that it's really hot here. Several girls come up to her as they are her fans. Her husband, Jayant, with her steps away as the media reach there. She steps away after a few minutes and goes out to the parking lot where there's a crowd of people. She goes into the crowd to find Jayant's jacket, a dead man, and her luggage, but no Jayant. 2 people say that Jayant was kidnapped. (For a person who has never been to India and is London born, her accent is quite Indian. Not British.) In pictures, Jayant's kidnapping is shown. Niharika faints. A lady calls CID.
Daya and Abhijeet are searching the man's pockets. Shreya is taking photos. Abhijeet comments that the bullet seems to have been shot from close. Daya comments that the suit seems expensive. Shreya says that the suit matches the shoes. Abhijeet checks the hands and says that it looks like a worker's hand. Daya agrees that he also looks like a worker. (Exactly how does one look like a worker?) Daya says that Jayant has come to India for the first time. (For a guy coming to India for the first time, his accent was quite Indian as well.) Abhijeet asks if they saw the license plate. The witnesses said that they saw nothing, but describe the car as a really old, broken down car. Pankaj didn't see the license plate in the CCTV footage either because there was dirt on it. Daya suggests that Niharika could be in danger as well. The 3 take Niharika away from there. A group from the witnesses are leaving with their stuff when one shows the other 4 a gun.
The group are in the CID bureau where ACP Pradyuman demands what they've come to tell CID. (Be nice. Come on they are just trying to help.) Shreya asks why they didn't say anything at the airport. Piyush, the one who picked up the gun, shows the gun and says that it belonged to one of the kidnappers. Freddy explains that it could have had the murderer's fingerprints on it. ACP Pradyuman tells them to tell police next time they see something like that. The youngsters leave after ACP Pradyuman wishes them best of luck for their performance.
The 5 are practicing their performance on Chak De India. (Why did FW spend so much time on their performance?) Laksh and Rupel get into an argument. They decide to go to the hotel. They leave their stuff as 2 men start counting everything. Someone runs past the door. Then there is an explosion.
At a house, the 5 are discussing Jayant's kidnapping. Rupel gets a call from an unknown number. She picks up to be told that it's the fire brigade. Then she hangs up and starts crying. (Err no one is dead. Then why cry?) Rupel tells them that there is a fire in the rehearsal hall.
In the forensic lab, Dr. Salunkhe and Tarika are checking the body and doing some tests. (I don't get why there are always so many chemicals all around. Is that all a forensic lab is about?) Daya, Purvi, Shreya, and Pankaj come into the forensic lab at this time. Daya comments that this man's suit is more expensive than yours. Pankaj laughs. Dr. Salunkhe replies that it's all about the brain. Daya asks what they found out. Dr. Salunkhe says that there was some thread, glass shreds, and colour under his nails. Tarika shows the paper that has the colours and says that there was limestone, starch, and glue on his skin. Daya deduces kites. Dr. Salunkhe shows a YouTube video on how the kites are made. (Honestly so far I see nothing special about this episode. They could easily have shown this in the regular 40 minute episodes by cutting all the unnecessary scenes down.) Daya comments that we know what he does and we have his photo so we can find out about him. Then he gets a call about the fire because the fire brigade suspect something wrong.
Tiku calls a garage owner saying that CID is searching for the Cromax 300 car that he has and he has to hide it soon else CID will beat him black and blue. (This man is hilarious.) But before he can do anything, CID reaches the garage. ACP Pradyuman, Sachin, Jaywanti, and Mayur ask about the car. ACP Pradyuman tells the 3 to check the garage. They find the very obviously hidden car and search it carefully. The owner says that the car was stolen last night and then returned. Sachin says that the car wasn't taken far because the petrol tank is full. (Err...Sachin the petrol tank can be refuelled.) Jaywanti points out that the dirt on the tires is still wet. (Now that's more helpful.) ACP Pradyuman tells the garage owner not to leave the garage even without telling them.
Daya, Purvi, Shreya, and Pankaj are at the fire blast site. They also suspect that something is off because only the rehearsal hall was burnt, not the rest of the building. They decide to search the place carefully. Daya sees something and on moving aside the rubble they find 2 bodies, unburned. (Err...I think firefighters would have checked for bodies. No? Then why didn't they find the bodies?) Daya says we'll find out what happened after the postmortem report.
In a hotel room, Niharika is crying as ACP Pradyuman, Jaywanti, and Mayur look on. (An emphatic hand would be helpful Jaywanti. Or are you waiting for orders?) ACP Pradyuman asks if she knows of any enemies or reasons for Jayant's kidnapping. Jayant is a photographer in London and Niharika is a supermodel there. She says that he is a great guy and why would he have any enemies. Niharika remembers a man from a month back. She says that when they came back from their Europe tour a month back, Jayant got a few threatening calls and someone was standing in their lawn, but she never saw his face, though Jayant saw his face. Niharika says that Jayant didn't want this information to get out anywhere though. Outside a suspicious waitress is coming with food. (I doubt she'll be doing anything, but the way they are showing her makes her look suspicious.) She rings the bell and Mayur checks to find its room service. The waitress brings the food in and shows the food when ACP Pradyuman asks. ACP Pradyuman tells her to taste the food. Tania, the waitress, tastes the food and then is allowed to leave. ACP Pradyuman promises to bring Jayant back and then the 3 leave. ACP Pradyuman tells them to check with their London contact. (Yep they have contacts all around the world.) Abhijeet calls and tells ACP Pradyuman that they found someone who knows the dead man.
In the bureau, Hariya, the man who knows Sohan, the dead man, is waiting for the CID officers. Daya asks about the suit. Hariya says that it could be the job of those 2. Hariya explains that Sohan leaves in Ahmedabad and he came here 2 days ago and he would get 50,000 rupees to do a job as told by his 2 neighbours. ACP Pradyuman tells Daya and Abhijeet to take Hariya to Ahmedabad. (There's the Ahmedabad connection.)
In Ahmedabad, the roofs are filled with people flying their kites happily. (Is that really how it is?) In the streets, Daya, Abhijeet, Purvi, and Shreya are taking Hariya to Jigan and Eilesh's house, the 2 neighbours. Hariya points out the house and wants to leave, but Abhijeet and Daya force him to go upstairs. (Waise the suits are looking really nice that Purvi and Shreya are wearing.) As the 5 are heading upstairs, the assistant from the first scene comes out of a house and calls someone asking for a description on the kite.
On the roof, a woman welcomes Hariya for Makar Sankranti. Hariya asks about Jigan. Hariya talks to Jigan and says that 2 of his friends came with him to see Makar Sankranti. Daya and Abhijeet take the 2 away politely and nicely. (Aww so nice. Warna maar maar ke bhi toh leke jaa sakte the.) Once downstairs, the 2 demand answers from Jigan and Eilesh. Eilesh says that a woman told them to do this. Jigan and Eilesh say that she will give a suit and they just have to give it to someone and make them stand outside the airport. At that time a group of people come rushing out and stop CID from beating the 2. Eilesh and Jigan run away. The 4 CID officers give pursuit. At one point Abhijeet, Shreya, and Purvi pass the assistant. (Why try to hide the gun when it was already hidden?) Shreya stops thinking she saw a gun. Shreya and Purvi run back and follow the assistant. Shreya and Purvi go back when they lose the assistant to pick up the thread that the assistant dropped. On it they find a message "26 ko sab dhuan dhuan kar do". (Honestly? Just to send that message you put together a full thread reel?) Daya and Abhijeet catch Eilesh and Jigan in this time.
In Mumbai, the dance group is sad that everything is over. (Err you just lost some stuff. You can always get it again after claiming insurance. It was clothes, props, guitars, and a music system.) They are worried about what to do for this year's Republic Day event. Riddhima comes in and says that Devendra has been doing this even for years and it will happen this year as well. In flashback, Devendra is worried about this year's 26th January's event and thinks something will happen in it. In the present, Riddhima says that she will arrange everything and tells them to prepare for the event. (What's the big deal about this event? I'm sure there are bigger events held. No?)
Elsewhere, the assistant is treating her foot wound. One of the 2 men in the room is surprised that she survived. She says that CID was after someone else, not her. They report that they are ready for 26th January and will handle Niharika by tomorrow. The assistant is pleased and then opens a drawer and pulls out a gun. She shoots the man. (In the amount of time she spoke, the man could easily have shot her. He's an idiot.)
ACP Pradyuman demands answers from Jigan and Eilesh about the message. Daya fires off a series of questions. Eilesh says that they don't know anything. Jigan agrees that they sent Sohan to the airport, but they didn't know he would be killed and the woman didn't say anything about killing or being killed.
Dr. Salunkhe is in the car wondering how to search for the kidnappers and starts talking to the car. He continues searching the car with a fine tooth comb and sees something hidden under a seat that looks like pieces of metal. He takes them out and recognizes them as pen nibs. Tarika comes in with a report from the hospital that says that the 2 men died before the fire. (Err isn't that the forensic doctors' job? Or have Dr. Salunkhe and Tarika outsourced postmortems.)
In the bureau, Freddy takes away Eilesh and Jigan as Dr. Salunkhe calls ACP Pradyuman and tells him about the pen nibs. (Why would any kidnapper drop pen nibs in a car to be caught? And that too in such a place? They couldn't just fall randomly into such a place.) He also says that the 2 men died because of poisoning and there was dynamite in the building rubble. ACP Pradyuman checks their addition and wonders where there are pen manufacturing companies about 7.5 kilometres off the regular route from the garage to the airport.
Daya, Pankaj, and Nikhil arrive at a pen manufacturing company, that is closed down. They start searching it carefully for Jayant. Daya finds Jayant. Nikhil and Pankaj take Jayant out. Daya stops as his phone rings. It's ACP Pradyuman and Daya reports that they found Jayant and he's fine. Then he's surprised about something. Daya stops Jayant and asks how to get yourself kidnapped. (Now that's interesting.)
In flashback, Shreya is talking to someone in London's Indian Embassy. ACP Pradyuman says they also told John Smith, their contact. John calls ACP Pradyuman and says that Jayant is not actually who he is and the number he gave belongs to some Maria and the number is connected to many criminal numbers. (John Smith. What an innovative name. And what a way to make him talk in Hindi.)
In present, Jayant asks to be forgiven and then suddenly he presses a button and the 3 officers get caught in a net. Jayant chuckles.
Freddy comes in with a sketch in the bureau. The sketch is Tania's. The sketch is also of the woman who met Eilesh and Jigan. ACP Pradyuman calls Niharika, but her phone is off.
In the hotel, Nharika is eating. ACP Pradyuman, Sachin, Jaywanti, and Mayur are racing up the stairs. Tania meets the assistant, Mantara, and says that the job is done and Niharika will go where we wanted her to go. ACP Pradyuman stop Niharika from eating the food, but they are too late as she has been poisoned. Tania is still walking calmly down the hall to be caught by CID. (Really? She had already passed that hall when she met Mantara. Then why pass it again? Just to be caught by CID? Sheesh.) Jaywanti races out to a playground where Tania attacks her. Tania and Jaywanti get into a fight and Tania gets beaten badly. ACP Pradyuman tells Tania that Niharika is okay. Sachin asks who is she and why did she want to kill Niharika. ACP Pradyuman asks what she knows about Jayant. Tania says that Jayant is behind everything. He and his friends planned everything in London. Tania says that she is just a contract killer and Jayant told her to keep an eye on Niharika and kill her when the time was right. ACP Pradyuman asks about their 26th January plan. Jaywanti shows her Mantara's sketch and asks about her. Tania says that Mantara is Jayant's right-hand and they are planning an explosion at an event. ACP Pradyuman realizes that it at Rupel's event. (Is that really the only big event?)
Back at the pen manufacturing site, Jayant is showing off overconfidently. Daya tells him that he can't get away. Jayant says he knew how dangerous CID is that's why he did all this. (Seriously man. Is CID the only police force in all of India? What about anti-terrorist cell or CBI or the regular police force?) Jayant turns on a gas and leaves. Daya tells Nikhil to remove the small knife in his socks which Nikhil removes with his mouth. (Eww...he could do that with his hand as well. Sheesh this is crazy.)
At the site of the event, Riddhima recognizes CID. (Even Riddhima recognizes CID? Really? Are they famous worldwide?) ACP Pradyuman says they are just doing a routine check. Abhijeet divides the checking.
At the pen manufacturing company, Daya, Pankaj, and Nikhil are slowly getting burned. Daya starts cutting the net with the knife and jumps out. He turns off the gas as Pankaj and Nikhil get out as well.
At the event, the first act begins. It is on the song Ek Tu Hi Bharosa. On one side a group of kids are singing and in the middle, a group is dancing. Meanwhile, Abhijeet and Mayur are checking the audience seats for the bomb. Mantara is also in the audience. (Riddhima looked back at someone. I don't know why, but I feel that she turned back to look at Mantara.) Abhijeet, Jaywanti, Sachin, and Mayur report that they didn't find anything. Daya, Purvi, Shreya, Pankaj reach the location as well and Daya yells out to stop the gas. (Smart move. Honestly folks. There is something called a cell phone. It is a great technology. It connects people from one location to people at another location. *sarcasm* For those who missed the sarcasm, I'm basically saying that Daya could easily have called Abhijeet and said the same. No need to create chaos!) Mantara turns on the gas. Abhijeet and Daya run on stage to get people off the stage as the other officers direct people out. Then Abhijeet and Daya look at the gas and rush into it to turn off the system. They hit the system around and finally manage to turn it off by breaking it. (Really? There's something called a switch that you turn one way to turn on and the other way to turn off. Why do so much craziness?) Abhijeet and Daya collapse on the stage happily.
Riddhima and Mantara are trying to escape as they didn't plan on dying themselves. (Ah ha! That explains why Devendra died. So Riddhima could carry out this whole thing.) When they open a door, they are faced with ACP Pradyuman.
On a road somewhere, Jayant is stopped by Niharika who is happy to see him alive. Jayant pretends to be happy to see Niharika. Mantara confronts Jayant and demands why Jayant didn't save Mantara and Riddhima. Niharika is shocked to see Jayant's reality. Then Niharika pulls out her gun and reveals that she should have killed Mantara that night in London. Jayant reveals that the whole plan was Niharika's. (Now that's a shock. I didn't expect that at all.) Niharika says that no one would suspect her. Jayant reveals that they had to kill Devendra because he started suspecting them. Niharika says that now Mantara is going to die now. Mantara starts laughing and tells them both to look back. Niharika is shocked to see ACP Pradyuman, Daya, Sachin, Jaywanti, and Mayur. Daya and Jaywanti shoot Niharika and Jayant dead just as they are about to fire a gun.
In the bureau, the team is happy that they managed to stop such a big attack. Pankaj comes in happily with a cake and says someone sent it with a letter. ACP Pradyuman, Abhijeet, and Daya step aside with the letter as the others take a look at the cake. ACP Pradyuman reads:

In flashback, HD is shown and then his death is shown. ACP Pradyuman, Daya, and Abhijeet wonder how that's possible. Pankaj opens the cake box at that time just as ACP Pradyuman yells at him to stop and the cake explodes with a mini-bomb.
Later in the hospital, ACP Pradyuman wonders how he could be back if he's dead. Daya says that this time he'll twist HD's neck when he's caught. The doctor and the nurse come out and say that everyone is okay. ACP Pradyuman asks if they've gained consciousness. At that time DCP Chitrole makes his entry. ACP Pradyuman, Abhijeet, and Daya look frustrated on his return. The doctor asks who he is and then the 2 quickly escape. DCP Chitrole demands to know how HD is alive and Abhijeet says that they saw him die in front of their eyes. DCP Chitrole tells them that they have to solve every case in 24 hours now. (What was the point of all that? Stupid.)
NOTES
Overall the case wasn't that bad, but I don't get why it was called Dongara Ki Wapasi. He hasn't entered yet. The ending could easily have been shown under a different case name as well. Seriously. I was waiting to see HD. Not this bad attempt at a Republic Day special. That too. This wasn't anything special. They could have shortened the episode quite a bit and shown this as a regular episode. My rating is a 2.5 out of 5.
