CID Written Update: Jaanbaaz Danny (30th May, 2015)

Scene 1

The episode begins at a lake where we see some kids playing, throwing stones across the surface. We're told one of them, Danny is quite good at it. Danny is seen playing with a Rubix cube he found nearby. Suddenly, a car crashes through the corner of a bridge overhead, the driver screaming in horror as it splashes into the water. The kids are shocked and concerned that the man will drown. Against the others' warnings, Danny dives into the lake alone and rescues the man from the sunken car, and brings him ashore. The others manage to revive the man and praise Danny for his courage. Abruptly, Danny dives back into the lake and swims towards the motionless body of a woman we see lying at the bottom. He brings her to the surface and they discover she's dead. Danny sinks into a fit of asthma. His friends attend to him while another man with them calls for an ambulance.

Scene 2

We see Abhijeet sir and ACP sir talking to the rescued driver, who's bandaged and lying in the ambulance along with Danny. He claims the accident was his fault as he fell asleep while driving. The cops praise Danny, and the man who had called the ambulance introduces himself as Siddharth, owner of the institution where Danny and the kids study. The ambulance drives away and we see Sachin sir, Nikhil and Shreya examining the woman's body nearby outside. The lady's throat is slit, arms are bruised and it seems she had been thrown into the water quite a while ago. Abhijeet sir construes it's tough to obtain the killer's fingerprints or DNA now. There's no ID on her, though her clothes are luxurious. Shreya remarks they would have never found out about this body had it not been for the car accident. ACP sir says they need to identify her.

Scene 3

Abhijeet sir, Purvi, Pankaj and Mayur arrive at the forensic lab. Dr. Salunkhe informs them that the woman's throat was fatally slit about 35-40 hours ago. Dr. Tarika says she had been taking medication for skin allergy. Salunkhe sir points out a mark on her hand and says he'll try to identify her using that. Purvi says her DNA and fingerprints have no records in their database, and there seem to be no missing report filed for her either. They discuss that she probably lived alone or was an outsider. Salunkhe sir reveals that the mark on the victim's hand reads "RU", which is of the type often put on by partygoers in discos/pubs. Purvi says there's one Rock Union nightclub in there, and Abhijeet sir decides to pay it a visit.

Scene 4

The same team arrives at the Rock Union club and questions the manager, who identifies the victim as one Sonakshi who frequently visited the club with her friends. They find her friends there and talk to them. The girls are shocked and say Sonakshi was their long-time friend and very happy with her life. She used to run a spa in Pune and didn't tell them much about her personal matters. However, two days back she inexplicably left them while partying at around 12:30. The cops talk to a waiter who says he overheard Sonakshi that night, in the garden talking to a man named Raghav on phone, asking why didn't he come to meet her if it was so important. Sonakshi's friends don't recognize the name. Abhijeet sir asks Purvi to obtain Sonakshi's call record and find out about this man.

Scene 5

The same team arrives outside the journalist Raghav's house and finds a 2 days old newspaper lying at the door. Concerned, they enter and Abhijeet sir finds a full cup of tea on the kitchen counter, and infers that Raghav left the house in a hurry and disturbed. Purvi says Raghav could've killed Sonakshi and then went into hiding. Abhijeet sir asks her to call his office and find out more. Pankaj finds several imported watches and two expensive TVs in the house, and Abhijeet sir construes this guy was involved in some illegal business. Purvi finds out that Raghav hasn't turned up at office since two days, and isn't answering calls either. The office workers don't seem to know about Sonakshi. Pankaj points out Sonakshi's friends don't know Raghav either. Mayur finds a shelf with lots of ladies' cosmetic items. Abhijeet sir wonders who was this lady living there, and asks the others to trace the last known location of Raghav's phone.

Scene 6

ACP sir, Abhijeet sir, Sachin sir, Shreya, Nikhil and Mayur are seen searching the area surrounding the lake while divers search its bottom, fruitlessly. Sachin sir says they searched a 2 km radius around the spot where Raghav's mobile was last traced, but found nothing. Nikhil says nobody in the nearby village knows about him either. At this point, the divers find Raghav's corpse in the lake and bring it ashore. The cops notice that he too got his throat slit and there are bruises on his arms. Shreya wonders if it's a serial killer at work, but Abhijeet sir points out that the bodies wouldn't have been hidden in that case. Shreya says maybe they had a common enemy then. ACP sir wonders what the connection between both the victims and their murders is.

Scene 7

Freddy sir and Ishita arrive in the bureau with the forensic report of Raghav's corpse, which shows that he was suffering from a constriction in nasal septum. Daya sir points out Raghav was killed 18-20 hours ago - about a day after Sonakshi's murder. Sachin sir reveals that there had been mass deposits in Raghav's bank account over the past 2 months. Freddy sir reveals that according to the phone records, Raghav and Sonakshi had been in contact since 3 months only. Sachin sir receives a call saying the torn photo they found at Raghav's house has been identified, and the lady in it is one Rashmi (what photo?? I don't recall this being shown before). Daya sir wonders if she was the lady living there, and due to some fight Raghav got angry and tore and threw away the photo. ACP sir says the fight could've happened due to Sonakshi, and Rashmi killed both of them. He says they must meet Rashmi.

Scene 8

We see Danny bored in the hospital, playing with his cube and wishing to be discharged soon. Suddenly, there's a weird sound and light from within the cube and he opens it to find a chip hidden inside it. He's surprised and decides to inform the CID about it.

Scene 9

ACP sir, Sachin sir, Freddy sir and Ishita meet Rashmi, who is shocked to hear about Raghav's murder and says he indeed had seemed to get a lot of money out of the blue, and gave no explanation when she asked him. He also began to get sudden mood swings and personality changes, and used to stay inexplicably absent for long periods. ACP sir recalls the deviated septum and construes that he must've been addicted to drugs. Rashmi doesn't recognize Sonakshi but says Raghav had been having long phone chats with some unknown woman, which led to their fight and relationship breaking. Freddy sir checks Raghav's phone records to find out which was the number Raghav had been in contact with at the said time, and ACP sir asks him to identify whom this number belongs to.

Scene 10

At the hospital reception, Danny stealthily contacts Daya sir and informs him about the cube and chip. He then returns to his room where he sees an unfamiliar nurse searching around his room, who claims she's new there. She spots his cube and demands he hand it over as toys aren't allowed inside the ward. When Danny refuses saying he needs to give it to the CID, she draws a gun and threatens to shoot him. He manages to push her and escape with her in hot pursuit. He hides in a room with surgical equipment and manages to take the chip out of the cube. Unfortunately, he accidentally hurts himself and the involuntary scream gives away his location. The phony nurse enters and blocks the door, and promises to let him go if he hands over the cube. Danny surrenders the cube, and the lady takes it and prepares to shoot him to cover her tracks. At this point, we hear Daya sir's voice and the lady decides its too risky to kill Danny there, and escapes.

We see Daya sir, Purvi, Pankaj and Mayur arriving, and the latter two chase after the nurse but she escapes. Daya sir and Purvi call a doctor to bandage Danny's wound, who reveals that he managed to keep the chip with himself. The cops praise him.

Scene 11

ACP sir and the others arrive at the lady's house who had been in phone contact with Raghav. Nobody answers the door, and Sachin sir unlocks it with his switchblade knife. Inside they find the place in shambles and a lady's corpse in one of the rooms, who turns out to be Aishwarya - one of Sonakshi's friends. Her throat has been slit as well. ACP sir notes it happened only a while ago and asks Freddy sir to enquire locals around the house if they saw anybody running from there. Sachin sir points out Aishwarya had lied to them about not knowing Raghav. ACP sir says probably the other friends are doing the same.

Scene 12

In the bureau, Sachin sir says they've not been able to crack the chip's password yet. ACP sir asks Freddy sir to try a combination of the girls' initials. Sachin sir adds that the other three friends of Sonakshi - Mitali, Rani and Trisha have gone missing. Freddy sir manages to unlock the chip and inside it, they find a list of prominent personalities such as industrialists and actors, along with money amounts and names of drugs. ACP sir construes that these girls had been peddling drugs under the guise of their kitty parties. He adds that Raghav must've found out via some enemy of theirs about their vile deals, and they were forced to pay him to keep him quiet. Possibly this same enemy must've killed them and Raghav as well. They check some party photos found at Aishwarya's house and see one unknown girl there. Sachin notes that it is one Kaya whose pic and number was there in Aishwarya's phone, and she was missing from party pics from the recent 3 months. ACP sir says they must find out about her.

Scene 13

Abhijeet sir, Shreya and Nikhil visit Kaya's house. Her grandmother tells them that she was murdered outside her office by a mugger, three months ago. Abhijeet sir says its no coincidence that only three months ago, Raghav had found out about Sonakshi's gang as well; it was a plan to murder Kaya. He construes Kaya might've been fed up of the gang and informed Raghav about it, who betrayed her and evidently one of the gang members killed her. Nikhil finds a photo album there. Abhijeet sees one person's pic there and says it's the one they're looking for, and they must stop him/her before the other three girls are attacked.

Scene 14

We see the three girls going to hide at one of their uncles' house, in a taxi. Suddenly, the taxi's tire goes flat and a masked man forces them out at gunpoint, saying they deserve the worst fate for their deeds. ACP sir and team turns up and disarms him. He pulls off his mask and is revealed to be Siddharth, owner of Danny's study institution. He reveals he's strapped a bomb to himself, and threatens to blow all of them up. He reveals that after one of the gang's clients died from a drug overdose, Kaya got a change of heart and tried to convince them to give up their evil ways, but when they refused, she sought Raghav's help. Raghav betrayed her, and he and the 3 girls murdered Kaya together, and now he's doing all this to avenge her. ACP sir says these people sent the fake nurse to the hospital as well, to get the chip. Meanwhile, Nikhil stealthily sneaks up from behind and kicks the bomb remote out of Siddharth's hand; Abhijeet sir catches it in time. Siddharth tries to escape, but is captured and slapped by Abhijeet sir. ACP sir says all four of them will now be awarded the death penalty for their hideous crimes.
