Dayanand Shetty talks about celebrating CID's success, getting a personal invitation from Lata Mangeshkar and being part of the upcoming season of Khatron Ke Khiladi .
D ayanand Shetty has been part of Sony's CID team for 16 years now and says he will continue with it till either the team gets tired of him or the channel discontinues the show.He says, " There is no reason otherwise why I should stop doing the show. We work well as a team, the stories are exciting, I get decently paid, so everything works together." Since the show has been going on for so long, how does he sustain his enthusiasm? " Well, all the actors in the team get along very well, there is no stars here, no dirty politics or backbiting. The various characters and newer actors who join in make the process exciting. It's fun and so the enthusiasm remains," he says.
Not so long ago, the entire CID team was invited by Lata Mangeshkar to her house. Possibly a first for any team of a TV show.
" Yes, it was like coming face to face with Goddess Saraswati. She not only treated us all with a lot of love and affection but the best part was she knew about each and every episode, the clothes we wore, the disguises we did during our investigations, so on and so forth. It was humbling."
Dayanand had once participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and now there is talk about him doing Khatron Ke Khiladi too. " Yes, I have cleared my medical tests and I think in all probability I am doing the show though I was away in Ahmedabad for the CID shoot and after I came back I haven't met the team of that show again."
Commenting on jokes being made about the show and the team, Dayanand says, " After Rajnikanth jokes, I think CID jokes are popular. I don't mind them." Ask him about the reactions they evoke from the common man when they move around in social circles or on the street and he says, " Well, the affection only shows that we have been doing something right for the past 16 years. It's a reflection of our achievement and it feels great to have been part of the show which has given us so much and entertained viewers year after year."
When asked about him getting film offers, Dayanand says, " There are but I haven't been offered anything which has made me give up everything and sign it. I have done a couple of films but right now, there are no offers worth taking up."
