WU: CID - Daya In Danger (15th November, 2013)

Scene 1

We see a shadowy room filled with silhouettes seated at a table. One man moves around with a paper saying it has names of prominent people who are enthusiastic about antique art; a weakness they can exploit to achieve their goals. One guy expresses doubt if they'll betray them; the leader says their loyal mates will help them in that case. Everybody in the room applauds.

Scene 2

We see a masked burglar breaking into a house at night and picking open a chest containing an ornate cylinder. He takes it and carefully replaces the chest. He then takes out a silenced pistol and shoots himself dead. Another masked guy enters and starts messing around with the other's body and gun with a cloth. He then smashes the cylinder to pieces and leaves. 😕

Scene 3: 3 Days Later

The scene switches to a hospital where Abhijeet sir, ACP sir, Purvi and Shreya are rushing along a gravely injured Daya sir 😭 with the medical staff. The doctor reassures the grieving team and takes Daya sir into the operation room. ACP sir is firm that he'll be safe and wonders when Daya sir will be permanently free from the hospital (yes sir, we've been wondering that for 3 years now!). We're told that this happened due to a blast in Daya sir's car which happened in Abhijeet sir's presence. He suspects that the girl they saw outside DCP Chitrole's office is involved as well.

(FLASHBACK)

Scene 4

We see our trio moving away from the DCP's office. Daya sir goes to fetch the car while Abhijeet and ACP sirs take the lift downstairs. As Daya sir moves into the parking lot, he sees a heavily wheezing lady; she points to her bag; Daya sir assumes she's asking for medicine but doesn't find that inside. ACP and Abhijeet sirs arrive to find her on the verge of asphyxiation. They proceed to take her to the hospital.

Scene 5

In the hospital, ACP sir remarks that the lady had no ID card for them to inform her family. The doc arrives and reveals that she's dead. He adds that she had no disease but was suffering from internal poisoning. ACP sir remarks that it seems to be a murder.

**Back in the present, Purvi wonders how the lady is responsible for Daya sir's condition when she's a victim herself.

(Flashback resumes)

Scene 6: Same day, 3:30 PM

Dr. Salunkhe and Dr. Tarika are seen dissecting the lady's body in presence of the team. They're shocked to find a bomb implanted in her abdomen. Daya sir notes it's a detonator bomb, but that is nowhere to be found on the body. However, the bomb is about to explode as its internal chemicals have leaked and the same fatally poisoned her. They're unable to diffuse the bomb and take it out and throw it high in the air to explode. They remark that she was a human bomb and they can get to the mastermind only after identifying her.

Scene 7: Same day, 8:30 PM

Our duo are seen in a room; Abhijeet talks on phone trying to get the lady identified while Daya sir thinks about his encounter with her in the parking lot. Abhijeet sir jokingly asks him if he's in mood for iced tea as it's getting cold; 😆 Daya sir says that the lady was trying to convey something when she was pointing to her bag, which he mistakenly assumed was about medicine. Abhijeet sir construes it might contain some clues about the bomb gang, and they proceed to get it from Daya sir's car. Abhijeet sir gets a call from Tarika and he stays behind to talk; as Daya sir approaches the car, it explodes and severely injures him. An utterly shocked Abhijeet sir rushes to his side, embraces him and cries out in anguish. 😭

Scene 8

Back in the hospital, ACP sir says that Daya sir must've seen something crucial in the bag which terrified the criminals and made them target him. He asks for Dr. Salunkhe to thoroughly examine the wreckage of the car. The doctor emerges and tells the tense team that while Daya sir has been saved, he's in a coma for an indefinite amount of time now. 😭 The cops all grieve the condition of their dear teammate; ACP sir firmly says that Daya sir is a fighter and will emerge unscathed. ⭐️

Scene 9

In the forensic lab, Dr. Salunkhe and Dr. Tarika are examining the remains of the car. Tarika finds out that the bomb was a low intensity one made using oxidizing salts 😕, the same type found in the lady's body. Dr. Salunkhe finds a piece of good quality, polished wood from the lady's leather bag's remains. ACP sir says Daya sir was targeted because he must've found out what was in the lady's bag. Dr. Salunkhe concernedly asks about him and ACP sir reassures that he'll be safe.

Scene 10

Rajat, Sachin and Nikhil question locals around the DCP's office about the lady. One of the guys says that he saw her in Wednesday with a large brown bag in a hurry, emerging from one Lajawab restaurant there.

Scene 11

The team questions the restaurant guys about the girl and are told that she was there indeed, quite frightened and some man with suit and hat had come to meet her and seemed to be scolding her. He gave her a watch and explained its mechanism to her; Rajat guesses this was the detonator. They're told that the guy was constantly hiding his face, paid with cash and there's no CCTV camera there. Rajat decides to check the table occupied by them for fingerprints and decides to send all that furniture to the forensic lab.

Scene 12

Dr. Salunkhe is seen checking the aforementioned furniture in the lab. Rajat arrives with the lady's watch provided by the hospital, which seems quite expensive. Dr. Salunkhe checks it and confirms it was used as a detonator, as evidenced by a foreign brass key inserted there. ACP sir they needs to find this mastermind before he plants another bomb. Dr. Tarika finds a fingerprint match from the furniture; an unnamed criminal with no registered photo who has caused 5 blasts in the country within the past 2 years. ACP sir says they'll catch him with the help of the detonator watch.

Scene 13

In the car, Rajat tells ACP sir that the watch belongs to one Gagan of Vihar Nagar.

Scene 14

At Gagan's house, the cops accuse Gagan of being involved with the bomber gang. He protests and says he used to buy the watches for some guys who met him at his refreshment shop and offered to pay him highly for this purpose. He adds that they contact him whenever they need his help.

Scene 15

The action switches to the gang's hideout where one guy explains to their boss Shalin that someone has come with an offer of 5 crores for a bomb. Sachin arrives in disguise and engages them in an amusing talk about the deal and questions them about the dead lady. The team arrives and after a brief gunfight captures the thugs, though Nikhil fails to catch Shalin. ACP sir says they'll catch him eventually.

Scene 16

Abhijeet sir and the others question Shalin's right hand at the bureau. He reveals that Shalin had the bomb planted in Daya sir's car and turns people into human bombs. He only knows that the lady used to live in a house at the Sara lake.

Scene 17

ACP and Freddy sirs along with the others arrive at the house and meet one Suketu, who looks after the house for its owner Taran who's in Australia, along with a band of tenants - three college students and two call centre employees. The cops reveal that the lady Koel (how did they find out her name? 😕 ) was the sixth tenant and question the reluctant tenants about her. One of them, Mona, tells them what happened 5 days ago at night.

(FLASHBACK)

Woken up by a gunshot, Mona and another girl Simran rush downstairs to see Koel standing over a masked burglar's body, gun outstretched. Koel is extremely terrified and says that the guy had tried to attack her upon being discovered and she shot him in self-defense. The girls are shocked to know that she has a gun; she assures that it is licensed. Simran decides to call the CID, but Koel frets that they'll not believe her and punish her instead. Koel agrees that the other tenants will not believe her either and her reputation will be tarnished (how so??), and decides to bury the body and keep the incident a secret.

(FLASHBACK ENDS)

Rajat accuses the girls for keeping the killing a secret. Nikhil finds the inner glass of one door deliberately broken and blood lying under it. Upon being pressurized, the girls reveal where the dead burglar is buried. ACP sir says they'll be punished for their crime.

Scene 18

In the forensic lab, Dr. Salunkhe reveals that the burglar was not killed by Koel, since the bullet which claimed his life came from neither her nor his own guns, indicating that a third person was present there. Also, the dried blood present near the broken door doesn't belong to Koel or the burglar either.

Scene 19

ACP sir and the others meet Taran at the house. He decides to oust Suketu and the tenants for their carelessness, but ACP sir vetoes it until the investigation is done and requests them to come to the forensic lab for a DNA test to be matched with the dried blood found near the door. They thoroughly search the house and Shreya finds a bloodstained curtain hook. ACP sir construes that the third person must've been injured by it. Freddy sir finds a golden ring in a nearby pot, which none of the people there identify. ACP sir says that the maker - Viraj Jewelers - will help them.

Scene 20

ACP sir and the others are seen waiting in the car for one Tipu to whom the ring belongs. Nikhil gives chase but the guy gets into a bus, which the cops follow. Inside, Tipu is seen telling an unseen person that the CID has tracked him down. The bus stops and the cops enter it to find him dead. ACP sir discovers that he's been injected with poison. They search for the parcel which was in his hands, and find it missing, apparently taken by the killer. One of the passengers says that the guy sitting next to him got off at that very bus stop. The cops search but fail to find him. ACP sir wonders what's in the box for which so many murders are taking place.

Scene 21

Shreya is seen sleeping near Daya sir's bed. Purvi enters and wakes her up saying ACP sir has ordered her to take her place. She kindly asks if she's eaten and offers her water, but Shreya says she's fasting 🥱. Purvi says ACP sir would be angry if he found out, and takes her outside to talk. Daya sir regains consciousness and gets flashbacks of Koel and the car blast. He tries to get up and leave, but is struck by dizziness and falls back motionless on the bed. An unidentified person enters the room, slowly sneaks up near him and draws a large knife, raising it high to attack. 😲
