It was a decent episode IMO, but could've been much better. Definitely a good change from the stale stories of corpses and vengeful partners we've been having lately, but it had much more potential. We generally have two kinds of plots – one which focuses more on investigation and clues, and the other having straightforward, action-based stories. This one was of the latter type so I don't really mind the lack of investigation, but by the end I didn't really feel the amount of thrill that it promised in the beginning. Nevertheless, there were some good twists and I appreciate them trying something different for a change. In a nutshell…
Positives –
* Most of the first half was pretty well done. The kids played their roles well and the idea of delivering a message using sweet wrapper and mud was quite hatke. Liked how the team is extremely careful when contacting them, that entire part was very good. 👏
* Nice to see a few light moments between the team in the car. 😊 Abhijeet was in great form throughout, especially in the climax, and ACP sir was also quite proficient in handling the situation, even though the scene where they confront the cops was a bit shady.
* Daya sir's pipe climbing and final action scenes were cool. Nice to see Vivek get an expanded role, those stunts were awesome. 😃 The scene where he and Freddy fight over the staged accident was hilarious. 😆 The scenes of them dispatching the goons in the building were generally shown well, without it seeming unrealistically cheesy.
* Certain suspenseful scenes like the kids hiding in the bathroom with the terrorist girl approaching were well done. The actor playing Hira did a decent job as well, and the editing was apt.
* The climax was fairly well done. I liked the plot twist of the gang asking the CID to bring in Hira only to have them shoot him. The kids helping the team defeat the gang was nicely shown without being unrealistic. 👍🏼 The ending was nice, although quite predictable.
Negatives –
* The plot had some weak points. The writer should've done some research about how terrorists work and how hostage situations like this are handled. Like visrom said, I think it would've been much better if they had ACP sir trying to distract the terrorists to buy time rather than attack cops to forcefully take away Hira. That's an extreme and would have extremely serious repercussions in real life. If they really had to do that, it would have to be as a last resort when the situation was rapidly spinning out of control… which it certainly wasn't shown to be. 😕
* The direction kinda fell flat in places. Nandu sir generally does a decent job, but I honestly feel this one should've gone to Santosh Shetty. Many of the action scenes just didn't give me the feeling of dread and thrill that episodes like Khoon Ki Holi or Khatra Chemical Bomb Ka had, and the terrorist attack/strategy didn't look realistic enough. Some of the points weren't properly synchronized with the rest - eg:, they never show when the terrorists captured the kids.
* Apart from Hira and the children, I wasn't impressed by the supporting cast. The cop that ACP sir shoots was awful, that terrorist girl was trying hard to be scary and evil but failing spectacularly. 😛 The way they introduce the boss (the Apaharan fella, if I'm not mistaken) and then move straight to the confession scene was somewhat of a downer too.
So I'd say it was a decent episode, but could've been much, much better and didn't live up to its full potential. The writers need to analyze and patch the weak points carefully for the quality to improve.
