Rajiv Khandelwal will play the lead in new CID thriller

'Sujal' finally gets a new job...

Rajiv Khandelwal will play the lead in new CID thriller

Subhash K Jha

He is the highest paid actor on television, yet jobless by choice. Rajiv Khandelwal who has been on the look-out for a challenging serial after his exit from Kahiin To Hoga, has finally found a new television project to suit his taste.

The extraordinarily prolific 'house of thrillers', Fireworks, has roped in Khandelwal to play the lead in a new thriller. "It took us some time to convince Rajiv to do the project," says B.P.Singh Fireworks' head honcho. "He had once done a cameo for us on CID Special Bureau. This cameo made a tremendous impact. Now we've convinced him to do a one-hour weekly thriller with a supernatural touch."

B.P.Singh's CID has lasted for eight years. It returns to Sony TV in March again. "Viewers will be surprised to see Rakesh Bedi in the forensic lab, this time," says Singh. "We've continued CID for very long, but we've constantly re-invented ourselves. Last year we did a whole episode of CID in one shot. The new edition of the Guinness Book Of Records mentions this episode which lasted 111 minutes. This couldn't have been done on film because the length of a film reel is ten minutes only. We telecast that episode without a break in the feature-film slot and we were surprised to see that TV viewers had the patience to watch CID uninterrupted for two hours."

"Now our company plans to detour from the thriller genre," reveals Singh. "We're going to produce soaps too, although thrillers will remain our USP. Right now we're working on four soaps. We know Ekta Kapoor is the queen of soaps. But we'll try to do something that'll surprise soap viewers."

I am so confused. One we already saw him in CID and that isno this Sujal image . Also second he did not want to do it again he did not like that image as Varun aswathi or ACP Prithviraj.

in the article they mentioned that fireworks had a good run with CID for 8 yrs so it is off air now? but we are still seeing the latest stories?

i don't think they will continue with 3 CID shows on sony. so is friday CID coming to an end? is it goodbye to ACP prad? 😕

I went to the link and it is a different story .

To me this is an old article as first it says roped Sujal and that is not going to be a new article as they will say ACP Prithviraj coming back. Also I remember reading about this guiness book record last year.

here is an article i found and CID SB was launched last MArch and that was what the MArch deal was unless CID SB is going to get over which I doubt. Now Sujal was just this winter so not sure what mumbai mirror article is about as its wrong info . No links are there to the article i think because datelines are not correct. Sujal was in Sep 2005 while CID SB launch was in March

B P Singh tries another first with 'CID'!

This is a crossover with a difference. Producer - director B P Singh has come up with an innovation that has never been attempted before on Indian television --- the same plot being entwined in episodes to be aired on different serials, on the same channel, Sony.

Manav Gohil - framed!

In the coming week, beginning 4 March, the CID track will be picked up by CID Special Bureau, in a bid to win over the audiences of the more popular serial. The plot will be intertwined in both and it will move forward as a single track. This is a format that seems to be a well planned move on the part of both the producers and the channel. Singh had last year, attempted another successful first by shooting a 110 minute long episode of CID in a single take and gaining an entry into the Guiness Book of Records.

In the last two months, both Indian Idol and CID were the channel drivers for Sony, but with the former coming to an end this week, the channel will need to keep the momentum going.

The twist in CID seems to have been initiated to keep the TRPs in place. It is also to be noted that in the past few

Mandira Bedi - special act!

weeks, the ratings of even Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi have suffered, and the only show that has kept a steady pace is CID.

Both forms of CID --- CID and CID Special Bureau will see Sudhanshu Pandey (Of Band of Boys) as Arjun, a cop who will be murdered, and Manav Govil, familiar as Daksh in CID, will be framed for it.

"With our TRP ranging from six to seven, we don't need to worry about competition. This is an endeavour to give that much needed extra kick to CID Special Bureau," says Yash Patnaik, Supervising Producer, CID and CID Special Bureau.

According to info available, the story revolves around two bodies found with numbers 2 and 3 inscribed on them. The CID team traces back the crimes to another committed in 1997 with a similar bullet and Daksh enters Special Bureau on 7 and 8 March to investigate. Matters get complicated with Sudhanshu taking over the case and Daksh getting implicated after Sudhanshu's murder. The case will be solved in the CID episode on 11 March. For Mandira fans, t
here is also a surprise element with Mandira Bedi in a never before role in the case!
