I thought of giving the title, 'the best director' . But i dont need a comparison. The same reason i dont want a poll too.

It is about the best director of cid, your favourite crafts man in your favourite show...the favourite episode from him, screen play, story etc....many of you vote for B.P.Singh...now why he is your evertime favourite?

Santhosh shetty, siba misra, Nandu kale, Rajan vagdhare etc...our favourites ever....what makes them so favourite? Their way of direction? Theme? Stories? Script?

If you feel the direction comes second to story and screen play, please comment....who is your favourite writer...christabell, Dinesh phadnis, santhosh shetty, siba misra.....

Please comment.

Hmm.... nice topic. 😊

well, B.P Singh is my top favourite in the field of direction and screenplay! Its because, he brings in the real flavour of CID. under him the characters remain true to themselves. He moulds the scene the way we want them to. he knows what should be emphasized and when ! When a story isnt very strong, he makes sure that the audience has something else to cherish. ACP remains calm and composed, Abhi-Daya remain in super form.... Freddy the jovial and others given importance as much as we want them to. he is able to understand the audience very well when he directs an episode. The camera angles etc are also fabulously taken..he makes the team look as if they just started working few days back! the actots are vey comfortabel with him and i think that make shim the BOSS!😃

Coming to the next position, i would say a combination of our favourite TRIO - BP SIR, SANTOSH SIR AND CHRISTIE MAM... They are fire together! Christie and santosh 's story is always superb! Santosh sir manages to add suspense and thrill to his stories. disguise scenes are his speciality with superb screenplay ! Christie mam's plots are always praiseworthy! ( mosltly ).... Other than Don's Revnege they neevr made a mistake !

Other directors are good but not consistent enough ! Story writers of today are very very inconsistent..rather mostly consistent in giving bad stories! I wish Raghavan brothers were back ! There stories were the most varied and a wonderfully portrayed by directors like Siba Mishra etc etc.....

First of all interesting thread chinnu !!

Now coming to me like most others my favourite has always been BP sir in terms of direction !! He is just unbeatable in his work !! He simply weaves magic onscreen !! Obviously he is such an experienced man so it's difficult for anyone to beat him !!

Moreover CID is his Brainchild !! So he gave us CID and that's why no one else can handle CID better than he does !!! Our actors feel rather relaxed and more comfortable when I see them in a episode made by him !!! Singh Saab is simply unbeatable in this field !!! His direction seems so much to be in flow and connected !! Every shot every scene every little thing seems just perfect !!! BP SINGH is a maestro in his work and no one can beat him !! I can never tell one personal favourite of mine for him because every work of his is excellent (leaving out Don's Revenge )

Coming to the next it's definitely Santosh Shetty !! I like Christabelle's work but nowadays that name doesn't make me as happy as it used to earlier !! Anyways coming to SS he's lovely at his work !! Excellently handles the plot and mainly keeps hold the CID element in the show !! Knows how to maintain suspense till the last scene very well !! More than Salil Singh i feel SS has inherited BP sir's way of handling the show !!

And now about my views.. like the shagz & bhavana me to vote for BP sir in terms of direction !! He has done a commendable job.. loved his direction.. its my opinion that a perfect direction can make a smash hit on a simple story and BP sir is the director of that category...no body can beat him...!!

Coming to the next difficult to choose one.. i like the combination of Santosh Shetty & Christabelle. they do well together..

Great topic, chinnu. 👍🏼

I agree with what Shagnika and Bhavana have said that B.P Singh sir is unmatched when it comes to directing or the story. He's very familiar with this genre after all and CID is his brainchild - he knows very well about the essence of a good suspenseful story and thrilling mystery. Nearly all of the older episodes directed (or written) by him are pure gold and even the newer ones with weaker stories have something or the other memorable about them, like the great locales and camera work in Manali Murder and Deshdrohiyon Ke Viruddh CID... episode. He properly understands about every character and we have great moments with them in most of his episodes. Don's Final Revenge is an exception indeed, but IMO even most of that episode is much better than some of the horrid cases we've seen recently.

My next favourite is definitely Santosh Shetty too. He's another one who can create a memorable episode even with a weaker script, and not only provides excellent suspense and thrill to the plot but adds very well-done and apt emotional scenes occasionally too. One who's impressed me with most of his cases and I'm always looking forward to see more cases directed by him. Siba Mishra has done some very good cases too although I need to go back and check which of the more recent ones were by him, I can't recall properly.

Of the newer directors, I like Rajan Waghdhare because I think he too understands about proper plot structure and team effort, and his direction has been pretty good even in episodes with a poor plot like the Aadamkhor episode. Nandu Kale has done some good episodes but is rather hit-and-miss these days. Salil Singh, I'm afraid, is at the bottom of my list for obvious reasons, although he's shown a little improvement recently so I've not given up on him yet.

Regarding writers my favourites have been the Raghavan brothers, IMO they were so skillful and experts with their amazing and thrilling stories that even an average case by their level is highly enjoyable to sit through, they definitely raised the bar very high. Christabelle ma'am's stories have been amazing too, even though some of the more recent ones have been a bit disappointing but there's always a great chance of a gem coming through when she does the story and I'm always looking forward to it. Dinesh sir (Freddy) is also clearly very talented at this seeing the few stories he did for the episodes, I wish he did that more. Not very impressed with the rest of the writers like Nitika Kanwar etc. so far, though.

No one is consistent. We cannot say who is the best. Don't know what happens to them sometimes..
But Shridhar Raghavan's stories were wonderful, so were Dinesh sir's. They need good stories, they don't have that. The basic plot has to be very clear.
Manali was good to see, that was an exception. Deshdrohi was also good, but this is another exception. I don't think another 'chase' episode with camera work will be thrilling.
The main thing is the characterisation - the image we have about ACP, Daya and Abhijeet is what B P Singh and Shridhar Raghavan conceived 12 years back. The present lot has distorted it and made it into a total mess. Whatever they write they have to keep the image of the character in mind. The present lot is not concerned about this at all.

No major probs with Dangerous lady, except that scene where Abhijeet gets drunk. I can understand NK writing it. She has no idea what the character of Abhijeet is. But B P Singh? I couldn't imagine him directing such a scene. He is the one who said once that they don't show crimes against women and they don't show male officers manhandling lady criminals because it is not ethical etc. He knows that people consider or trio as role models. How could he show that scene? I'll never forgive him for it too.

so all most all votes are for our series director cum producer...he deserves it for creating suc a great platform.

IMO , the direction comes second to screen play. If we consider some of the best cases ever in cid history, it may not be from b.p or santhosh shetty. For me, the evertime super hits of cid are
Target cid
Case of 639 coins
Injured witness
Stolen dynamite

Among these,no single one from skippy director. But other than target cid the screen play made them life. I believe in script, but the script can be killed by worst direction. Many Salil,Siba cases are examples. Siba mishra has a time, unbeatable...but he cannot contribute much. Nandu kale, very good director...but not good for emotional scenes. Rajan vaghdhare , an average director.

I prefer santhosh shetty , because i cant recollect many flops from him...and is a best script and story writer too.

About my favourite script writer, i will post later.
