I agree too that he is probably sr.purohits son illegal son ...Shantanu is shantanu purohit.
Also, there was this scene when dev and shantanu introduce themselves to each other, shantanu just tells his first name and when dev asks for the last name, he does'nt tell. He says this much is sufficient for now , or something to that effect...
He does'nt want to reveal his identity right now...
I think that will be kindof fun to watch , as Mrin , chachaji and arjun want arjun to be rp and mrin finds out that she herself brought in another contendor for rp position , and especially if shantanu turns positive later on and actually becomes a good friend and brother to dev and radhika .

anu i agree with ur point of Dev and Shantanu being Karna and Arjun of Mahabarata. But I don't agree that Daadi knows about this first wife or second wife of Sr. Raj Purohit and his son, as she is shown to be so upright that she would have abandoned her own son but would have given shelter to Shantanu's mom and him.

I also agree to the point that he does not love Radhika and all those stories he told to Dev was completely sham. He has understood very well that to destroy the Purohits totally he needs to enter their den but to do that he needs to be in the good books of DEV otherwise he won't be able to attain success in his motives even though he has attained the belief of all the 3 important ladies of PB, as without DEV's wishes they won't even look at him even though they like him. So all those drama to get into DEV's good books again and attain his sympathy.

The most horrible part is that now when Shantanu would talk or look at Radhika, Dev would not be angry with him but b sympathetic towards him and slowly and steadily Shantanu would start his dirty tricks and make Rad's bad in DEV's eyes

But guys, reading all through this post and thinking, what you say seems possible but I have just one point to make.

Did you know, in the famous Ekta serial, Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi also, Hiten was there as the illegitimate son of Tulsi's husband (can't remember the name now), and his name in the serial was also Karan. Would he accept the same type of role again so soon? I wonder. Can be, but am really not sure.

If that's the case, then the angle could be totally different. What say?

A_Dream: I am not blaming Sr.Purohit for abandoning the mother of Shantanu. I am only saying, may be his mother left Sr.Purohit, or may be something happened, that his mom was at fault and was asked to leave PB.............But everyone hid this fact from Dev........I know Dadi is upright woman, but if this woman was fault, she would defend her son, as she defended Dev and got rid of Vishaka.............And just like she got Radhika for Dev, she might have gotten Vaishali for Sr.Purohit..............But Shantanu might be thinking that his mother was insulted and had to go through hardships because of PB family........Hence his anger towards the entire family.................

Remember he tells Dev, You don't know what it is to lose Love, I know that pain....................I think he is referring to pain of losing his family and staying away from his parents.............so, he wants to separate Radhika and Dev, so Dev would know that pain................

I think he likes Radhika. and thinks of her as innocent girl............and who knows, how he might have fallen for her............But to me, he is liking her, the more, he sees her................He has certain softness in his eyes, when he looks at Radhika......................But one thing to note is, in all those photos, they never showed Radhika and Shanatanu together.............

Bholabear: I have NOt seen any soap so far, CB is my ONLY FIRST, and will probably be the last.....So, I cannot really comment...but will say this, may be in that role, Hiten was not negative, and also, he might protray slightly grey role here..................

Guys: It looks like Shantanu is after all like Karn....abandonded child of PB............he is hurting and has so much pain....but basically is good at heart............he is like a ziddi/stubborn son who is hurting and needs lots of love and healing from mother and woman like Radhika who would get him back on track............

Yep, I also agree and rad has already stated to Vaishaali saying that shaan is her son and blah blah blah.
