Shantanu aka Karn?

In the scene, where Shantanu comes in front of PB family, it was interesting to watch, the reaction/interaction between Vaishali and Shantanu. Vaishali says, your parents must be real nice, to have given you such upbringing. To which, Shantanu, avoids eye contact with her, but passes her, and makes a remark, saying let us not talk about them, they did their work, by bringing me into the world, while I did bring myself up...............Then he walks upto Dadi and touches her feet, as a respectful gesture...........this scene to me, spoke volumes. I saw this only once, but it struck in my mind...............

I think Shantanu is SON of Vaishali............and her husband sr. Purohit.........I think, he is the brother of Dev.....If you notice, he did not touch Vaishali's feet. He had a cold feeling towards her..........It reminds me of Karan - Son of Queen Kunti. While Dev(legimitate son like Arjun), Shanatanu is like Karn......Queen Kunti could never give her name to Karn, because he was born before her wedding..............Karn and Arjun never liked each other ever...............Similarly Dev and Shantanu will clash in the coming days..........I think this whole story of Radha being his wife is sham....................There is no wife or anything............This is all plan of his big game plan, which even Mrin is not aware of....................He is trying to create web of deceit and lies......just like Chakravuh............and Vishaka like Duroydhan (who wanted Hastinapur at any cost) wants Dev and Purohit Bhavan at all cost........................Amma is like Shakuni, who constantly fills her mind with evil designs......................

I also think he is Karn even though he has to be Sr. Purohit's son for him to claim RP title. He is also self-made like Karn, resents Dev for all the happiness and conveniences that Dev got and is joining hands with Mrin/Vishaka and duryodhan like chachoo. Arjun always was very condescending towards Karn and so is Dev towards him. So, this rivalry will be quite strong. I do think that Shantanu wants Radhika as well because Karn wanted to marry Draupadi who insulted him instead. She was willing to marry a poor Brahmin (Arjun in disguise as well as in exile) with whom she fell in love on spot, but not Karn who was a king at that time. The only immoral act that Karn in my opinion committed was during the cheer haran of Draupadi where he enjoyed her downfall. That was his revenge for Drapaudi mocking him. Here, Radhika is not Draupadi as she is gentle and nice to others. So, he still wants her. Not sure about the resemblence about Radhika to somebody in his life. How did he get those photos in more contemporary poses because Radhika has never dressed like that. She was most modern only in Malaysia. So, I think that this guy does want Radhika and she serves two purposes. The most important is that he takes away from Dev the most important thing in his life. Also, if Shantanu has divorce papers in his hands, he had to plan this in an advance. He could have easily done it before Radhika's marriage to Dev. But, he waited until Radhika got married to Dev. So, he knows more than Mrinalini thinks. I am sure that he contacted Mrinalini deliberately and showed her Radha's pictures. Mrin is too short-term and short-sighted like Amma and Vishaka and so can not understand any deep planning.

Yes, Why............I also thought that it might be like son of Sr.Purohit to claim title of RP...........and he has to be older than Dev, but youger? to Vivek or even older to Vivek........

Remember Dadi and Vaishali had conversation during the wedding.....some kind secret that Vaishali felt Dev needs to know now. But Dadi refused that she is so sure that Radhika will fulfil their wishes of having a heir grandson and refused to tell Dev the secret. Anu you're right some how Shantanu might be son of RP sr. But could he have become Raj Purohit if he had illegimate child. Or Was he married before and Vaishali is his second wife. May be 1st wife died or she left him.

Tazzi: Yes, I do remember that scene. When they are at the entrance of the Mandap, Vaishali and Dadi are having that conversation.......I have strong feeling that his full name is Shantanu Purohit, and his mom, was first wife of Sr.Purohit...........I think the discussion was about the waaris...........and wealth of Purohits, and having waaris within an year......................And dadi refused to let Dev know about this......But now, their dark secret is right in front of them.............

Very interesting thought Anu. Some new angle to this fiasco. Shanthanu is equaly dashing and dynamic as Dev. Looking forward to see who acts as Kunthi and who acts as Krishna.

Nice post Anu its true that S has lot if resentment towards Dev and Vaisali and I was wondering whether it was a purohit story or Kunti story and Eva pointed out that for S to be purohit it cant be Kunti story.Let us see what the Cvs will come out with they many times come with such twists that we dont predict.R v in for a twist of Rads original parents or is it a deep and subtle revenge plan of S to take over P property and RP title from Dev.

i think you may be correct...there is no Radha..and he may be following this family for long and know all the history and made mrinu to fall in his pit. All those pictures , one with chudidar, other in Wedding dress is confusing, but therse is one from malasia...who knows.Kanha is with them.. And I want Dev to know and understand Radh and digg all the proof out himself to save PB.

Anu, very interesting views. I am in complete agreement with why3. I feel Shantanu genuinely likes Radhika. It worked in his favor that Radhika happens to be the Choti bahu of the Purohit family who he has ties with. Anyways, I am very interested to see how the creatives are going to unfold this story.

Radhika has also shown him kindness by bandaging his hand even though he was a stranger. So, he has or would develop deeper feelings for Radhika. So, he would genuninely pursue Radhika. Now his love is going to be different from Dev's love. I don't think he would be selfish like Vishaka, but more ruthless. When Dev found out that Radhika was going to be married, he stopped pursuing her. Also, when he met her in the temple where Radhika wore Sindoor to mislead him, he asked her if her husband was good. When Radhika responded that her husband was the best person in the world, he expressed his happiness and left.

Shantanu doesn't care that Radhika loves Dev intensely or that Dev is very good to her. Regardless of his feelings for Radhika, he would easily hurt Dev. So, that's where he differs from Dev and doesn't know that he won't be able to get Radhika.
