Good observation. I will agree about Vishakha's clothes. They looked expensive for what i'd assume was Shashtri's lifestyle. But comparatively, Radhika, Devki and Amma all fit the bill of being from a poor family that lives mainly on dakshina. Shashtri ji also wears simple clothes, tho he has a air about him and i think thats what you mean by him seeming like a thakur types. He is a man with a lot of self respect and it comes accross in his walk and the way he talks. But at the same time Shashtri is very humble too. He's a stronger character than you'd expect from someone in his position. I don't find it odd.. but actually respect that about him.

As for Vish's clothes, lets assume that Vish knows how to get her way with her mother who budgets. There is no reason to think that Brij Mohan bought those clothes for Vish. Cause obviously Radhika didn't get those same type of clothes. I wouldnt' imagine Brij Mohan to have made that distinction. Vish is a girl with her own mind and won't wear what her father got her. So i am thinking she did her own shopping convincing her mother to let her spend extra.

Now the fact that no matter how much she tries to save will she be able to buy too many expensive chudidaars like she had.. thats a creative liberty i think the creatives can take. Because they did a good job of showing the difference between Vish and Rads and their attitudes in life and the treatment they got from others. So appearances also are a part of your personality and the clothes were therefore matched according to that.
