| Daljit Kaur of Kulvaddhu fame has bagged a new show on Star Plus. She'll be playing one of the leads in Shakuntalam's Santaan. Beside this, she also has a Star One's Choona Hai Aasmaan. "I'm playing the role of Suhana, who is very much like me. Santaan is a show which portrays the relation of a parent with its child. It has a strong message for the current generation" says Daljit. Elaborating further on her character, she says, "This role is very simple and easy for me. I play the youngest child in the family who is very pampered and little spoiled. Gaurav and Sudeep play the role of my elder brothers who are possessive about me. It's a beautiful character that every girl can relate with" She adds further "It feels great to be a part of Santaan. Through this show, I'm able to create some awareness among the youth and can make them realise the importance of parents in their lives. The generation gap is always there between parents and children and then how does things change is the USP of the story. It's something that occurs in each and every house" Daljit is also playing a strong character in Choona hai… "This show is basically about air force and I portray a challenging role. I can't reveal much as my entry is going to be surprise package. My character is going to bring some twist in the tale," she quips.

A. L. Chougule After doing two films which sank without a trace at the box-office, it was Ekta Kapoor who gave a fresh lease of life to Iqbal Khan's non-happening acting career with Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai. Soon the good-looking actor became Ekta Kapoor's blue-eyed boy. With his career taking off in a big way on television, Ekta cast him in Kavyanjali and Karam Apna Apna and Iqbal couldn't have asked for anything more. But all of a sudden in December last, Iqbal decided to get married and quit Karam Apna Apna as well as Balaji. While most actors take break from work for personal reasons, Iqbal's decision to quit the show as well as the television's most successful and happening banner came as a huge surprise to one and all. However, after an almost nine-month sabbatical Iqbal has made a comeback on television with an action-adventure-emotion show based on the lives of airforce cadets for which he has apparently been offered huge money. However, a few months ago, there was a strong buzz that Ekta was trying to sabotage Iqbal's comeback on the Star platform. Ask him whether there was any truth in the rumours and he says he also heard and read the same in the media. "I have no clue and let's not talk about it," he requests. A firm believer in the Almighty, Iqbal says nobody can take away what Allah has ordained. "It's Allah who can make or break you or your career. No human being has that power," he says with a straight face. In fact, during his sabbatical he was never ever worried or felt insecure about getting work. "There were loads of offers but all were the same family soaps which I really didn't want to do," he adds. Is that the reason why his break lasted nine months? "Actually I was figuring out what exactly I should do. I was looking for something really different from what I had done for three years prior to my break. In May I was approached for Chhoona Hai Aasman and it was exactly the kind of show I wanted to do," he says matter-of-factly. In Chhoona Hai Aasman he plays Flight lieutenant Abhimanyu Adhikari, an expert in guerrilla warfare. Abhimanyu is a man of few words and believes in rules and regulations. "The air force is just the backdrop and it provides a vehicle for taking the story forward as well as action and adventure sequences. But essentially the show is all about emotions and inter-personal relationships," says Iqbal, refusing to reveal anything more about the show and his role. All that he says is Abhimanyu is an intense person and has a dry sense of humour. Something like Iqbal in real life? "It's true that I am a man of few words. I believe in doing my best and leave the rest to Allah," he says with a brief smile. If he is a man of few words he also comes out as a serious person. "There is a funny side to me as well but basically I am an intense and fairly private person," he reveals. He also likes to strike a balance between personal and professional life, especially after working day in and day out for three years. Is this a shaadi ka effect? "That's the way one should work. And that's the way several actors at Balaji are working. But I overdid everything. I worked from morning to midnight and in the process my health got affected and I had to take a break," he says, adding, "At that point of time it didn't matter to me that I was quitting a show where I was playing the lead. I needed a break and I went ahead."
