Rabb...umm...Jingle Ve!!! 🤗
The few of you who recognize the angry red DP on the side may be wondering what the blazes I'm doing in the Jingle Ben forum - especially since the last time I watched the show was back when the universe was still young.😉 But I'm told that Manav bitwa underbhent plastic surgery and emerged with much better acting chops, along with a new face.
So here I am. Jingle bitiya - wonly for you do I venture in here. Else I wouldn't be caught dead watching a hard core phaimily drama, even if it came with a venti caramel mocha frappuccino - with extra whipped cream.
And to the gals who asked for a Take 5 - signed, sealed and delivered. FULL DISCLOSURE - had to go back and read a bunch of WU's to catch up with the story.
So if I misrepresent anything...blame the WU'ers (what - did you honestly think I'd blame myself? 😈 )
Aaj ka Take 5 posted from the lair of Chanakya ki ben. Aka Uma Ben. Who is apparently twisting herself into a pretzel trying to get rid of her newest daughter-in-law. Where's a handy kachua machchar chaap for bahus when you need one?
1. Ghanta special. And this would be ghanta as in an hour. Not ghanta as in "big effing deal", as in...never mind.
The mask has come off, and Darth VaderBen has been revealed all her glory - complete with harsh, rasping breath. Bitiya Skywalker cannot believe that her ma-in-law is the she-devil incarnate, and she is now in a dilemma. How does she break the story, and (presumably) break the hearts of all 4566 people who apparently live in the Borisagar mansion, at least half of whom are VaderBen's sons?
Side Note: New bitwa is certainly an improvement on his predecessor, as in - he can deliver a line without disintegrating into a puddle of goo. 👏 But will he be able recreate the burn-up-the-screen-and-the-living-room magic that his predecessor's predecessor had with Jingle? Phront-phront see bhat-bhat...
2. Vrath Special. Bitiya - I feel for you. Kasam Se. Bhy - oh bhy is your character forced to fast in every soap you pick? 😕
The womenfolk are fasting. In some cases - to find a good husband, and in the case of those already married - to keep said husbands (in line). The parentheses be my addition so I don't go off on a tangential rant about how unfair this is to women and...never mind. 😡
Jingle wants to find a way to keep her marriage without disillusioning bitwa. Luckily for her, bitwa has regressed to his teenage years and is now throwing tennis balls to attract her attention. Careful bitiya - the next stage is usually ponytail yanking.
Luckily for them, bitiya's maternity home is bherry chilled out and laid back - though they have to be hit over the head with a baseball bat to take a hint. But hint they take, and the pati is finally able to talk to his patni and convince her to come back home. Patni confesses that she never really left - she just wanted to scare him straight.
Women everywhere shake their heads with pity. Ladki - the FIRST rule of marriage is to NOT disclose your arsenal of weapons, you may need them again someday.
3. Suspense Special. Dadaji (bhere did he spring from? 😲) decrees that the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) shall gather at 10pm Zulu time (synchronize your watches, yo!) to listen to the newest member of the Security Council lay out her problems, upon which the UNGA will declare that all phangurls will start spamming the PH and channel to bring back...
Never mind. Galti se mistakiya.
The extended family is on pins and needles - wondering who is going to be hauled over the coals at 10pm. Bitwa tries to probe too, but no dice. She's like the freaking Oscars - no secrets shalt be revealed before the envelope is opened on-air. They all have to be satisfied playing dandiya - while bitiya flashbacks to her ma-in-law's machia-vellery.
Side Note: Bitwa has a tattoo? 😲 Desi soap stars now have tattoos? 😲 😲 Angelina Jolie - you gotta come check out desi Tellywood - you'll be right at home! 👏
Back to Jingle-duniya. Dadaji can only tolerate one round of that banging and circling before he starts to feel dizzy and calls a halt to the dandiya (or so I assume 😉). The excuse is that he wants to hear what bitiya has to say, which leads us to...
4. ...Confession Special. Bitiya ominously announces that her big secret is about Mummy-ji, who's probably wishing that Dadaji had allowed a bathroom break before the revelation.
But nebher phear. Bitiya, in the best traditions of desi-soap-tomfoolery-and-bahu-self-sacrificery, will NOT reveal the actual truth. She instead concocts a tale that, while sprinkled with grains of truth - presents Two-Face-Ben in the best possible light.
While the audience is busy forehead-desking - the assembled multi-joint-extended family unanimously passes a resolution declaring that Jingle shall be forgiven for all her imagined sins by winning back the ma-in-law's trust.
Time to get back to the dancing, y'all! No more watching saas-bahu serials - even Dadaji said so!
5. Confrontation Special. And the truth is out. Well - kinda. Coz she only exposes it to the villian of the piece, and demands answers. And this time - mummy-ji is finally ready to tell all. Which she does in considerable detail.
And THEN follows the climax of today's ghanta special - the face-off between Batman and Harvey Dent. But there be a twist. The Emperor isn't all BAD, like a traditional soapy saas. She has reasons behind her antagonism. And she proceeds to explain them to her recalcitrant bahu. The same one who is shaking the foundations of the Galactic Federation.
Side Note: YaYa - if this soap survives, it will solely be due to your considerable skills. Supriya Pathak *almost* succeeds in selling the heinous concept of dowry to her audience, blast her phenomenal acting. 👏 👏 👏 And bitiya is an worthwhile adversary - without saying much in the final confrontation.
Precap. Mummy-ji, get your gun!
