And what of her reputation that she is so worried about???

Umaben wants Sonali ... because Sonali is modern enough to suit Manav ... yet docile enough to bend to Umaben's wishes ... she decided against the tattoo when her father said Umaben would not like it.

Agan, we don't know whether that was a set up or not ... but if it was a set up, Sonali is docile enough to go along with it. Either way, she is ready to bow down to Umaben's wishes ... exactly the kind of bahu Umaben wants.

And Umaben's plan is to defame Chhanchhan enough to make it clear to her precious society that Manav threw CC out because of her shortcomings ... while Umaben tried to accept her whole-heartedly. So Umaben's reputation will be intact, she will make sure only CC's reputation is slandered. That's exactly what she did with Purvi too.
