When this show had just launched, there was a post that read USP of ChhanChhan as real as it can get!

Whilst 99.9% of us being disappointed with the Male Lead, our attention from all the positives, got overshadowed with the way Manav's character was played out etc. worsening the situation for most of us with some pathetic acting...

(A good actor is someone who is able to cover up flaws in a character)

Ok no more complaintwa...let us focus on the positive attributes of the show.

Being a daily soap every show has its flaws, drawbacks, clich scenes, etc; it's not easy to churn out day in day out a perfect episode...collectively, let's all look at what is good in the show. When I had watched the sangeet scenes, of course shutting one eye to avoid looking at one person in the same frame...this is what came to my mind about the Borasagar family.

The four couples: (Courtesy Diya for the correct names)

MR. BORASAGAR & WIFE UMABEN

MR. MUKUT & MRS. KAUMUDI

MR. MANEK & MRS. RANJANA

MR. MANTHAN & MRS SANJANA

Mr. Borasagar - Character sketch - Head of the family is hardly seen interacting with his family apart from his wife. Is a jovial man, respects the decisions taken by his wife who has been the one to bring them out of many troubled situations. He is kind and considerate.

Umaben - Taking advantage of her standing with her husband, who has allowed her to rule to roast, hides things and situations from him wherein she has been unfair, unjust and is wrong. She knows too well that were she tell him things the way they are...he would disagree with her, and would also not allow her to get her way with it. Like Purvi's Dad and his job and home, the dowry thing, and now ChhanChhan.

A Just Man married to a conniving and calculative Woman

MUKUT & KAUMUDI

Mukut seems to be a loyal son, yet stern towards his outlook on life. A typical no-nonsense male.

Kaumudi - A very good-hearted lady who cannot see beyond goodness in everyone. A dutiful wife too.

Manek & Ranjana

Manek - A simple, loving man who cares for his parents and family genuinely.

Ranjana ' Just the opposite of her husband Manek. Materialistic, cunning and selfish. Always wanting to please her MIL in the hope of getting something out of her.

Manthan & Sanjana:

Manthan ' Cunning, materialistic, conniving just like his mom. Is embarrassed of him dumb wife.

Sanjana ' The dumbest of them all. An exact opposite of her husband.

If you look closely then each couple are as different to each other as chalk and cheese and yet together create such a perfect balance...

And the actors chosen and lending their faces to these amazing characters who are all going to play some pivotal roles in the lives of ChhanChhan...are doing a fantastic job...

So now folks, come out with your pluses that you have noticed or seen in a particular scene on the show till date and simply add up...

Hugs

Good post!
Specially the analyses of the characters have been done perfectly.

And you are very much right .. Manav's character was too poorly played by Farhan. Had it been someone else with good acting ability, the show would have attracted the viewers attention to some other positive things.

Its not a love story, so theres no need to have a good-looking and handsome man as the main lead. A very good actor is exactly what it needs .. who will play a character well.

For me... the Sarabhai family, they are very real! and for me they stood out the most!! they're not a ypical indian soap type wala family!!

just what Sanaya promised with this show, it's exactly what we are getting!

and haan, about FK playing Manav, I don't really care if he's doing a good job or not, I watch it for Sanaya only! when and IF they do change the FK my view might change... don't know

Thanks for this positive post and drawing our attention back to content of the show.

For me the plus is the female protagonist who is not a shrinking violet. She has agency by which I mean she has the confidence to make her decisions and has the support of her family. She is a working, educated, and broad minded woman of today. For once we have a sensible woman, who is not afraid of putting forward her opinions in front of elders and does not shed copious amount of tears.

Wish they bring more depth and shades in Chhanchhan to make her more interesting.

Same reason I like Chhanchhan's mom, an educated, smart, professional, who also takes care of her family. Many women can relate to that.

Love the dogs, bring them back.

Of course I like the ensemble cast and varied characters they play, slowly and surely each one is showing their true colors.

amazing post and finally the elephant in the room has been removed we can actually concentrate on other facets of the story too!!

Most of the characters in the show has grown on me actually by now.. except for 2.5
1. UB - umm...well it is supposed to be so
2.Ranjana - 0.5 - i am a little less taken in by her compared to the others.. (i guess ti is just being typically female of me that I enjoy the black sheep Manthan and sometimes get irritated at his female counterpart Ranjana!)

3. FK aka manav - now this i will not even touch with a mile long pole as we have done it to death and this is about positives..

Ok the point is I have grown to have a soft spot on all other characters..

but the one main positive I see and am crazy about is ChhanChhan and her mom's bond. two strong women, bound by the most baeutiful relationship of the world..they are so realistic..i enjoy every second they share screen space.
2nd Chhanchhan and her bro Rugwed..sigh.. i have a brother too..and it is just as chaotic..i love watching them..seriously adore the love hate relationship!!
3rd daddy's little girl relationship - this is also so beautiful! i put this 3rd only cz i am a little partial to the 2 actors playing the above 2 roles, cz otherwise this is as adorable as it can get!!

dadima & CC - wow, i wish I had a cool dadi like that!! i do have my dadi's younger sister who is cool like that and I adore, so she reminds me of my choti dadi! CC & her dadima's relationship is also adorable!

CC & sis - this has not been unfortunately explored that much due to the circumstances as well as cz she had friends she seemed more closer to..otherwise i would love to see this bond a bit more too..

siblings as a whole - whenever 2 gangs up on the other, the sniggers, let pulling, jokes, teasing! wonderful!! it is a delight to watch!!

Now comes Manthan - hahaha the black sheep of the family! I actually feel very bad for him! I mean hell he was probably just a few years older than Manav and he had been shunned and manav had been showered with love! no wonder he had grown in to the man he is now!! it would have been a miracle had he turned out different cz clearly he is the only one who has inherited UB's brain.

Mansi - cute sister!! haha i love her double life of a traditional girl at home and a normal girl out of it.. and i mean normal, no vampish bad nanand here! she is CC is more likely to get along like a house on fire due to similar wavelength! so i would love to see them developing a sisterly bond..

Sanjana - makes me laugh! the actress is so good at playing dumb!!

Kaumadi - i am not that fond of her..but i guess she is sweet and nice..nothing too alluring about her though,,,

Father - this is the unexpected trump card.. he is an unexplored entity.. he has the capability to overide his wife easily but choses to nto do so in the belief that she is correct.
But on the day he learns otherwise he will not hesitate to take a stand against her and sto her, cz he can easily do it too!
so i am waiting to see CC coming and she trying to bond with her newly acquired father as she is used to cuddle and hug and to be babied by her own.. Mr. Borisagar might get to explore a whole different side of rearing a daughter through CC..cz as far as i see UB has kept all the children away from the father..Mansi has no easy connection with her dad compared to CC's situation..But CC unknowingly will seek comfort and love and an easy going relationship with her actually not at all strict FIL and will actually get exactly that!!

BUT as Mr. Borisagar seems jsut as loving, just and fun loving as CC's father I see a beautiful relationship b/w FIL and his youngest DIL in future..cz Mansi will marry and leave and CC is going to be the baby of that generation in her new family.. and i am seriously looking forward to this..

there r lots of intersting positives, once u discard the obvious huge problem! so hopefully from next week we will be able to concentrate and enjoy all of these! :)

Very nice post ... and hopefully now we can talk more about the show 😆

Umaben has been painted very black ... we have seen some lighter shades, in that while she insults her bahus' maayka, she doesn't actually ill-treat them or scheme to put them down, unlike other scheming MIL's. She has her own sense of justice, though it is a little twisted 😛 Her biggest flaw is that she likes to be the one completely in control and dominate each and every aspect of the lives of her entire family ... and she has a huge ego. I know people like this in real life, so she is somewhat realistic ...

Her husband is the dark horse ... he has been kept unaware of many aspects of his wife's doings, so it will be interesting to see how he unfolds.

Manthan and Ranjana ... I am expecting fireworks from them, but of different kinds. Manthan is as sly and self-centred as Ranjana, but he is smarter about it, he knows when to keep his mouth shut and when to put in a word just to light up sparks and see the reactions.

Ranjana is dumber ... she can't hide her selfishness and laziness ... her MIL is very much aware of her failings and uses them to get Ranjana to toe the line. I think it won't take long for CC to suss out Ranjana correctly either.

Sanjana is very dumb ... I think only for comic relief. But I wonder if they will explore the dynamics between Manthan and Sanjana ... he is not very happy in his marriage. That's why he resents that Manav got a girl of his choice, while Manthan was never allowed that choice.

The other three so far are not very remarkable ... they all toe Umaben's line without resenting it much.

Will come back later to the Sarabhai family 😛 I love them all!!!

Lovely post.

For me , the biggest plus is the entire sarabhai family ...each one of them is a strong individual in their own right and lead their own life on their own terms.
Channchann , one of the smartest characters I have seen on indian TV so far ...she is the one who chooses to marry Manav and then supposedly breaks up in a public gathering ... She takes the decision . Regarding her character being too white right now , I think situations have to be created where she is troubled and begins to understand UB's real intention for us to see various shades ...

The Borisagar family is also a plus , it is because of them , that we appreciate the sarabhai family more ...the obvious contrast is for all to see. In this family nobody takes any decisions themselve...everything is governed by UB . My personal favourites like most of us are manthan and ranjhana ...

The biggest plus ofcourse is Sanaya Irani. A lot of us keep commenting , if the show would we watched had sanaya not been there ... My answer to that is , we all have our reasons why we watch any show --- sometimes the promo catches our attn , sometimes we like that prodn houses previous show and sometimes it is the leads which we like and would want to follow their next venture ... Their is no guilt in admitting to that.

I watch this show for sanaya and now also supriyaji , I am enjoying the show especially in the past 2 weeks or so and do beleive the show if handled properly has the potential to be a decently sucessful show . It has a lot going for it ...
