She whenever gives an order/parmaish makes it seem like even she herself is helpless n hubby is a monster.. so the DILs do not directly hate her..

I am a bit puzzled at Uma Ben's character ... I can understand the way she deals with her bahus completely, she makes herself the good saas, and keeps control over them by using her husband's name. And things will get nasty if she is crossed? That part I don't understand.

And will he put his foot down if he sees Uma Ben do something wrong? Is that why she doesn't tell him?

I have always heard lie only to one person atleast you have to deal with that one only person later on. Here Uma Ben is lying to 2 set of groups : husband & bahu's & once the sons find out about this & even the husband they obviously will not like it right ? Bahu's look dumb to me so they might not really care. When the entire house anyways runs under her rules & regulations why lie ? Yes, I feel there is some friction between husband and wife there ... maybe Babuji was from a poorer family as Uma Ben said her plot of land saved the family ... so he feels indebted to her somehow and hence doesn't interfere much in what she does ... but at the same time he is a more principled person, and Uma Ben knows he will not approve of her methods in dealing with her bahus, so she doesn't tell him ...

But at the same time, when he did try to oppose her, she shot him down ... and when the sons tried to support Tushar Bhai, he supported Uma Ben against them ...

The whole family set up is not very pleasant ... it is one of those households where on the surface everything is smooth and plain sailing, but there are a lot of undercurrents ... it will take a long time to unfold them all ...

You got us all on a thinking process with Uman Ben's personality.

I believe this portrayal of Uman Ben in front of the husband is to garner his praise. She did not single out any bahu, for fear that he would praise that particular one...She needs to retain that numero uno position with her husband...

She seems cunning, manipulative, very self-centered yet quite fair...

Yes it will be ChhanChhan who will be the one to break the barriers set by UB for the rest of the Bahus...
