Yes - the pun IS intended. Holy intimidating Gujju-ben, Batman!!! 😲😲😲

Today's episode belongs, without a doubt, to Umaben.

Uma-BEN? 😲😲 Actually - she be Uma-BAAP, not ben. Hitler, Mussolini and Idi-Amin could take lessons. Day 4 of Jingle All The Way...and the earth trembles.

A judiciously worded, much abbreviated Take 5 posted from an undisclosed location, bherry bherry far away from the epicenter of the earthquake in Gujarat.

1. Maalkin is M.A.D. And resolved. As a result of the day's fiasco - when it is time to find a bride for her own son, she will yank out the unfortunate bride's family tree by the roots, and research it, all the way back to when the girl's ancestors swung from trees and dragged their knuckles on the ground. Coz she now knows what her next bahu shall NOT have. (Answer - a spine. Or a brain. Or other assorted internal organs related to any kind of independent thinking.)

Dikhris of Gujarat - be afraid. Be VERY afraid. I recommend mass migration to the same undisclosed location I'm posting from.

2. Shaadi toot gayi? How awesomely Cool! 🤣

Say bhat?😡😡😡 Abey dikhra - people usually say they are sorry when they hear of a toota hua rishta - they don't start giggling like retards. Even Hindi-challenged, kidney-returned bitwas know that! 😕

A broken shaadi is about as cool as you were trying to be - Einstein, and failing just as miserably.

Since this is apparently Han's first soap - 'tis but fair to withhold judgement for a little while longer and allow him a chance to grow into the role. But the clock is ticking, and dikhra - you need growth pills. STAT. I suggest calling 1-800-LANCE (Armstrong)

3. Uma-baap-re-ben's three stooges. Larry, Curly and Moe - otherwise known as the three bahus. 😕 The troops fall in line for inspection, cowering in front of the General, who runs an approving eye over her prized thoroughbreds. But they can rest easy - the General is pleased with them today. So instead of a firing squad at dawn, they get silver coins - bilkul phree. (Word of advice - hold it up to your ears to make sure nothing's ticking. Just in case)

The upshot - she's pleased with her results of her first three bahu deliveries from the marriage menu, and determined to make sure that the next order will be even more spectacular. And clueless Manav bitwa chooses that opportune moment to wander in, asking who the unlucky girl is...

4. ...Cut to the unlucky girl in question, who's enjoying a sleepover with the almost-bride. Their relief at the narrow escape lasts until the next morning, when the almost-bride's dad calls to inform then that he's headed to the zoo. To stick his head into the lioness' mouth.

Hoping and praying she won't actually bite it off.

Unfortunately for him - she's hungry (or angry), and takes a healthy bite. Job and house are both gone in one shot. The week ends with junior Ya preparing to go mano-a-mano with senior Ya - hoping to get both back.

5. Wardrobe-wa!! Take 5 returning to its roots with a wardrobe update!! Sanaya must be thanking the Devi Maiiya on her knees- she actually has OUTFITS on this show! 🥳And not just uniforms in different colors!! 🥳🥳 And most important - there isn't hide nor (bad pun alert) hair of a Gangotri - anywhere in the vicinity! 🥳🥳 🥳

As for Han...he..um, has a white shirt??? Bitwa - I suggest keeping a good hair stylist on speed dial. Purely as a future favor to your co-star, who is apparently quite adept at pulling it out by the roots. Oh, and shave already.

But this PH manages to do a better job of outfitting its cast - as opposed to others that shall remain nameless. 😈 The sets look better too, and don't appear to have been scrounged from Salvation Army rejected maal.

Thus ends the first week for Jingle All The Way. (you lucky so-and-so's. 😡😡😡)

And Take 5 goes back to its regularly scheduled weekly programming as opposed to daily. Because if I continue to do this daily, Devi Maiiya ki kasam - AD (asli duniya) mein dil hi nahin, AUR BHI BAHUT KUCH TOOTEGA.

But for now - we celebrate the launch of YaYa, and watch out for their future exploits.

TGI-almost-F!!! 🥳 🥳 🥳

A dialed down episode to round week 1 of Jingle-Jingle. Onto to the good, bad and the downright puzzling!!

The good - Sanaya and her wardrobe👍🏼. Nice to see her in different colors and outfits. The easy laid back dynamics of Chan Chan's family, their attempts to ease the tension of Purvi and her dad. Senior Ya's depiction of spearheading a family with an iron fist

The bad - Mom informs that the marriage was stopped and the first reaction you come up is laughter - really dikhra?😕 😲. Final nail in the coffin today - the show is not even a distant cousin twice, thrice removed of the movie it was supposed to be based on 😡

The puzzling - Why would a grown up guy call his mom Mummy, Mummy? The curious case of dikhri's dwindling friends - we started with 3 and ended up 1?😲😲 Explania
phleej!!

Takeaway from week 1 is definitely the YaYa face off. As the soap eerily treads into the standard saas-bahu saga shows that most of us here in this thread avoid, it is hard to say how long we will tune in.

J-J you are brilliant and you know it👏👏
Super super take and i was planning on highlighting parts i loved but realized the whole darn thing was awesome..
The episode was OK i guess; i liked Sanaya's casual avatar and the family scenes.

It is very obvious that the makers are banking heavily on Sanaya's fan base for this show as is evident from all the promotion; but the way it is being set up will not have an ongoing appeal to her fan base most of whom are not interested in cliche dramas.
If the objective is to show a clash of ideologies then why is it necessary to set Uma-ben up as all black from the get-go. She is already coming across as one who despises ChanChann and will do everything in her power to make her miserable😈 If the makers want to be truly different and progressive then why not start of with 2 women who come from different schools of thought but have a cordial first meeting, have an amicable rishta which then sees a strain because of the difference in ideology. Here Sr.Ya has already declared war and it is only the first week😲. All hell will break lose once the wedding actually occurs and they start living together.

They introduced us to a large supporting cast today; hopefully each character will have a role to play and will not end up a mere prop. I guess Sanaya probably selected this role as it gives her a chance to work with reputable actors and a more flexible work schedule due to 4 day airing and many supporting characters. If she is in fact doing JDJ, this is perfect because while it offers her a character centric show it also gives her the flexibility to pursue other opportunities she is interested in.

I'm with you on the weekly Take 5; i have watched diligently for Sanaya this week but the script and dialogues needs to improve drastically to ensure it does not turn into "been there done that".

When they meant to be serious I laughed and when they laughed I went hain? Yes yes just like my DP (I have it there for a reason after all..to remind myself of my nadani jo hum karchuke hein to enter daily soap land..no shaayad about that one)

'Khaana kaa ke jaana' said Ya Sr.. erm is money not charged per plate in parties and shaadis in desh? First there is the kissa of 25 lakh that is lost in the room of requirements of all things soap land, now add plate per plate for food for all the people to it. Vadee logoin ke chooti chooti baatein! (will not touch 'choote log' dailog..will not touch it..will not..will not..)

The first day there were three friends waiting for Jingle as Purvi got dressed for the wedding. Next day Jingle, Purvi and two friends. Today Jingle, Simple and Purvi. Bhat is bith one missing friendva every single day? Jingle please don't go bye bye without telling us, else bhat will we be do here!

Just yesterday I was celebrating Jingle on her lesson learned about *tum har kaam akele nahein kar sakti* and off she goes doing the same come Monday. Satyanaash!

Honest questions from a newbie to all things soapland (wonly soap 2 this one)

  • What is with Tellywood and choti from the side? I counted 4 people with this in the 20 something mins the show went on for.
  • Did hello hi give the entire team classes on makeup? Or is it a tellywood thing again?
J-J how do you do this every single time is beyond me. But as everyone else says Pranaam

😆 Wonderful take as always.
--------------------

"JSK" to all.

First of all- What is so funny (and cool) about a tooti-shaadi? Please explainiya.

The best part of the episode: CC's family trying to ease away Purvi and her dad's worries. That was really sweet. [Oh, and that SI actually has a wardrobe! 🥳]

However, why do they keep uttering they wouldn't be able to do what they did had CC not been there!? Like I've said before, not everyone will have such a friend. Social Msg ka ho gaya satyanash.

2 of the 3 bahus are from SNS and Kairee! Anyhow, they're all a scared bunch! Surely reminded me of Kairee b/c in there, 1 bahu was scared for her life and the other high on something.

Lesson learned for the day:

What an Uma-Ben bahu should Never Ever have:

A brain, modernness, and well, basically a life.

Confusedwa about this:

Wasn't the friend who died Purvi's sister? So, how did the dad agree for dahej (or "gift") for the marriage in the first place? Or its not her sister.. but he was aware of what had happened in the past to their friend... 😕

Confusion he confusion hai, solution kuch pata nahi...

J, needless to say - WONDERFUL Take-5s 👏

Huh, today's episode belongs to Uma ben? I better skip. I am yet to digest Supriya Patak in this role.

Ha ha... if all the dikhris of Gujarat migrate to your location, how will the desi soaps survive?

Boy, he laughed about shadi-tootofying? Desi soap boys are unpredictable. There we know one bitwa who was a moron because of his sister's broken shadi and here we have this bitwa. Yes, he is a newbie. Lets give him some time to grow spine and all the organs related to any kind of independent thinking 😆

Somehow, the whole dahej-shadi-no shadi issue didn't appeal much.

Thank you for the update, Jamba! Umaben ruled the show today; not even a sappy susu joke, you say? I think I can safely skip the episode today!
May be the show will be "watchable" next week. 😕

I had to resort to ismailvegamze after watching yesterday's episode, so don't want to take any chances today!

Always love your Take 5's! In fact, they are the only things which spur me to watch. Haven't seen tonight's episode yet, but I am reserving judgement on the show for a few weeks..hoping they will work the kinks out.
Kinks to work out:
1. Wicked stepmother/Ursula/Maleficent/insert pure evil character here: There is only so much melodrama one can watch before turning off the television. 😡 They need to krank her down a bit, and make her somewhat likeable.
2. The "Han" (love the name): Manav is coming off as a frat boy, immature and too "yo' dude" for me. 😕 I know..he is not meant to be the "angry young man" upon whose broad shoulders rest all familial responsibilities. The Angry young man with emotive caramel eyes who has no time for love yet needs it so much...maafi, diverging here! 😳 Anyways, I am trying to give Manav some rope with which he can strangle himself or capture my interest.
3. Story pace is dizzyingly fast...seems like we are meeting so many characters, whizzing past so many scenes. No time to settle into stuff. Would have liked to have scene more of the individual's characters/thought processes come through in slower scenes. Feel like I have no background/reference point on the characters yet. Of course, it is only the first week, but I feel a disconnect with the characters.
I admit my expectations might be to high, so please take my thoughts with a generous heap of salt!
edited to say: I am making judgements aren't I? O' Teri...
