Okay I just went back to a criminally underrated album by Rahman out of the blue. I've been listening to songs in this one since ages but this one particular number is SO UNKNOWN and ignored and I take that very personally. Rahman has used folk instruments and style in this with a very different voice for the song. The beats are insane, INSANE I tell you. Sophia carries the vibe well throughout.
Richa has a unique voice, a voice that comes from the tribe of Bhajan-mandali or Keertan tradition that is popular in small states and cities. She is one of the most underrated playback singers in Bollywood and I wish they'd use her 'Buland' voice more often.
The other song 'Main Vari Vari' is something I remember attempting in my learning days over and over again. Raani has done a commendable job and so has Master-Ji (Saroj Khan) in choreographing the steps. They're subtle and yet sensuous in their own way.
I couldn't even find the full song on YT so posting a spotify link here.
