We living any where out in foreign country will miss our home country at the same time we try to adapt to certain things according to adopted country.

Everyone ones perspective is different . We are so busy working 8 hrs a day from Monday to friday.Weekend are more hectic doing our laundry, cleaning, cooking and grocery shopping.Parents volunteer at kids school and during weekends also they do volunteer at Chinnamamaya mission or balkuteer.Driving kids from one activity to another .Here we work so hard we have no time to relax.

We raise our kids to learn our culture .Until middle school Krishna learned Veena,Piano, drawing, painting ,swimming and soccer..

She can read and speak telugu fluency is missing. She understand s hindi( most common words)

After certain age we let go but the seeds we planted in their hearts will flourish accordingly depending up on the environment or situations.

She knows more about mahabarath and ramyan and orher mythological stories.

She sings suprabatham, gayartrimantram, hanumanchalisa…… list goes on..

Every parent puts lot of efforts in raising there kids according to there culture.Depression is very chronic in US but in india people don’t talk about. They suffer with in themselves and there is a social stigma.People are ashamed of talking about so many things . There is also false prestige which comes with it especially if you are a girl child. The only reason Krishna want s to move back is she want to experience the living life style The surviving skills living in foreign country( for her) and also she wants to spend some time with grandma. It might change that’s her thought process for now.

Life lessons are more practical then book lesson’s .

That is great news Tulsi. Imbibing good culture at the early stage gives kids a clear idea of Indianness. But I feel, born and brought up in USA , it will be difficult for her to adjust to India. Not only attitudinal differences, but also one has to struggle for everything in India, from school seat to professional course admissions. Even driving a car is not an easy task, the traffic snarls and reckless driving.

Yes, she will decide after visiting India once, we have to respect our kids' wishes. 😊

Agree with you Tulsi and especially Krishna, whom I am acquainted with personally, is very well bred and talented in Indian culture, have personally heard her mellifluous religious renditions and you are indeed a proud parent for bringing her up like this👏.

Life is a struggle everywhere. Depression is being spoken about now in India but yes, not so common as in the West. But what I am trying to convey is social lifestyle is different here with more mingling among family and friends but in America, told to me by many friends, relatives and even a spiritual healer who is a close relative, who live in America, in the name of privacy, people become very distant.

Good morning!

How are you all?

Padma, now inter community marriages are common and giving rise to a new breed of mixed marriages. Even in my family, so many variations, the more the merrier, what is important is mutual love and respect for each other's sentiments and culture! You have a good time even on 20th, nothing like reconnecting with old friends!

Have a good day, be happy always!

Good Afternoon Rainbow Friends😊

Tulsi I am so happy that you imbibed good values into Krishna's life and she absorbed with so much interest and zeal. Yes let her explore more while staying in India after that she herself will decide.

Is it difficult to take one's parents to stay alongwith their children? I can understand cost of living part. And what else? Even in India if the parents does not save for their oldage then they are sure to depend on children. There are lots of incidents happening around. Some good some bad. As Vibha rightly said in US in the name of privacy people distance themselves, where as in India people have a habit to intrude, but here too that culture is growing gradually.

Now I am nervous because my children are showing me 70mm picture, but I am their mother I am gona make my mind without hurting them. Or I may scumb if my health does not permits. Time will tell.

Good day all🤗

Good day all🤗

Close relatives and parents get a 10 years visa for America where you can travel and live in States for 6 months max every year but on a regular basis, parents get tired running around, speaking from relatives' experience. Moreover, again the elderly Indians used to Indian lifestyle where every neighbour or friend is around the corner, feel a sense of alienation there. Once an uncle tried to befriend a neighbour who asked him if he had an appointment. Those who live there have their social circle but have seen many elderly of American children living alone here or in good old age homes funded by their children. Till a couple is together they manage happily, happy for their children's success, but once they are single, real problem starts. I have seen a close friend's father who developed Alzheimer's and could not live with his only daughter in States as they were both working and he would get up in forgetfulness and move out on his own, a very brilliant multinational Pharma company director in his hey days, super intelligent and rich, and his daughter was very caring, she would come from America every six months or whenever there was an emergency, but finally, relatives in Hyderabad took care of him, brothers, sister, for few months, then admitted him in an old age home which was not so good but the best there, he languished and died a lonely death. My friend suffered so much mentally, worrying about him. It is not that she did not care but distance makes it impossible. So parents should have a support system and plan for when they will be single from double. This is not just America, talking about children working abroad all over the world and parents living here. Sad scenario but true.

Very detailed discussion on the social issue going on here. 😊

It is a clash between expectations & adjustment.

The culture and upbringing won't play any role there, it is always better to safeguard your freedom.

Every bahu and Sasuma have to remember this, we should all remember this, no need for harassment, no need for dependence, just live our lives happily as much as we can in our own homes. No need to expect service or repayment from our children or their spouses.

With generation change, attitudinal differences too will vary.
