I am studying M.A. in History!! Exactly my sentiment Sreejita in my childhood history texbooks Indus Valley Civilizations, Vedic Age, Buddhism and Jainism then straight to Delhi Sultanate, Mughal Empire, British India and then Independence!! Rest were European History !! It is in Class 11 that I got to know that Mauryan, Gupta , Harshavardhana and Tripartite Struggles of Palas, Rashtrakutas and Gurajara Pratiharas, Vijaynagara Empire. In B.A. Honrs in history I was surprised to know about Chola, Chalukya empires, Maratha Empire , The bloody struggle of Indian Freedom Movement , Netaji and INA. I was really surprised that why this topics are not part of school curriculum and it is only fair that kids lost interest in history as nobody wants to know about Delhi Sultans or Mughals or Roman or Greek empires. We have so much rich history and our kids don't even know 10% of it. These Gandhi's needs to be exterminated for their crimes of keeping Indians oblivious of our own culture and history.

I completely agree with you...

The realities is that they didnt teach us our glorious history but about our slavery that india experienced.

I literally dont understand why Akbar was great and shivaji, maharana pratap and rani Lakshmi bai were not.

Why they never taught us about vedas? Upnishads? They all are our history... its just sad.

They didnt even considered many freedom fighters good enough to mention them in our history books...

Considering our history books were written from leftist view point I do not find it that surprising.
