GODRIC GRYFFINDOR

He was the founder of Gryffindor house. Godric Gryffindor was the most accomplished dueller of his time, an enlightened fighter against Muggle discrimination and the first owner of the celebrated Sorting Hat. Gryffindor is said to have praised courage, determination and strength of heart above all other qualities. Indeed, he selected students for his house based upon their daring and bravery.

SIR NICHOLAS de MIMSY - PORPINGTON

Sir Nicholas was a wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Gryffindor House. He was a wizard of the royal court as an adult. He was knighted and was a courtier at King Henry VII's royal court. He was executed, after he had a magical mishap with Lady Grieve, in which he tried to straighten her teeth but it backfired and she grew tusks. However, the executioner's axe was blunt, as the grindstone used to sharpen it had been misplaced. Thus, it took forty-five hacks to kill Sir Nicholas, and even then his his head was only partially severed.

GRYFFINDOR SWORD

The sword of Gryffindor was made a thousand years ago by goblins, the magical world's most skilled metalworkers, and is therefore enchanted. Fashioned from pure silver, it is inset with rubies, the stone that represents Gryffindor in the hour-glasses that count the house points at Hogwarts. Godric Gryffindor's name is engraved just beneath the hilt. The Sword of Gryffindor contains special properties that only goblin-made armor would possess, most notably the ability to take on the power of substances it touches - especially those that would make it stronger.

THE LION

The Lion is known as the 'King of Beasts'. The lion is a symbol for deathless courage, strength, fearlessness, bravery and royalty. The lion wins the prize for most relentless fighter in the face of life challenges. Lion is one of the favorite symbols of leadership, warriors and emperors. The roar of a lion is alone enough to make other animals weak with fear. The lion is noble, brave and fierce, but will only attack if attacked.

GRYFFINDOR HOUSE

The Gryffindor house emphasises the traits of courage as well as "daring, nerve, and chivalry," and thus its members are generally regarded as brave, though sometimes to the point of recklessness. They can also be short-tempered. Gryffindors and Slytherins have shared a fierce house rivalry since their founders, Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin, respectively, had a severe falling out over Slytherin's emphasis on "blood purity".

GRYFFINDOR TOWER

The common room is a circular room where Gryffindor students can relax after a long day of studying. It is full of squashy armchairs, tables, and bulletin board where school notices, ads, lost posters, etc. can be posted. A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace dominates one wall. The walls are decorated with scarlet tapestries that depict witches and wizards, but also various animals. The entrance to the common room is located behind the portrait of the Fat Lady on the seventh-floor of Hogwarts Castle. A password is required to enter it. A circular hole is behind the painting leading to the common room. The Gryffindor dormitories are also located in the Tower, with two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases.

THE MAIN FLOOR

With fire being its house element, the fireplace is the common room's core, radiating its heat and energy out equally to every side of the common room. The main floor is largely divided into a lounge space and a study space. The lounge space has squashy armchairs where Gryffindors hang out, play chess, and interact. The study space are individual desks lined up along magical stained glass windows that are actually puzzles. Two stairs flank the entrance of the common room, leading to half dome observatory, while two others that flank the dorm entrances lead down towards the floor that houses the timekeeping clockwork gears.

THE HALF DOME OBSERVATORY

The Half Dome observatory consist of a pipe organ with its keys embedded on the floor, and a giant half dome that can contain projections of planets and galaxies far far away. Gryffindors being very structured and rhythmic by nature, play scores that triggers a projection of a certain planet or galaxy for study purposes. Ambitious by birth, Gryffindors look beyond planet Earth for knowledge and inspirations. Of course, like some Muggles, they believe in magical creatures exist on other planets too.

THE CLOCKWORK FLOOR

Gryffindors are entrusted with timekeeping within the Hogwarts grounds. Time runs a little magically different as opposed to the Muggle territory. When done right (most of the time), classes bells ring when it is supposed to be, meals are served and mails are delivered on time. To achieve these, an assigned group of senior Gryffindors attend to the clockwork gears every other week. With teamwork, all the gears are turned and turned with accuracy. A little planet in the middle of the clockwork floor glows bright when the gears are done right.

GROUNDED

Gryffindor's common room is closer to ground than it is to top. Their animal - the Lion needs more freedom on ground.

HOME

The lower ceiling as compared to rest of the houses' makes it feel like home, but still maintaining the grandeur of space.

EQUALITY

Gryffindor's good sportsmanship reflects through it's room layout. The circular room givesa pretty equal amount of reach towards every direction.

AMBITIOUS

The idea of having sky high ambition is highly reflected through the study of space and astronomy.

TRANSFIGURATION

Having most of their famous head of house being best at Transfiguration, the craft of magic branch is reflected through the ability to transfigure the space for different galaxy when needed.
