That's because one of the marquee events like Boston marathon had terrorist attack.
The winner of that Marathon gave his prize money to the victims and next year he ran again and won
There are six major marathons - Boston,Chicago, Newyork,Berlin, London and Tokyo
The Boston Marathon attack I could never forget it...it was covered by all news channels... The terror when the whole city was shut down watched it live on TV until the last attacker was captured... Then the aftermath of the victims... Their life was forever changed....many lost their legs...CNN captured the victims stories...So I understand the security measures for such events but I'm sadden that this much protection is needed.... That's what we have come to sadly.
