As far as I know, Salim spent his childhood in Fatehpur Sikri and then the Mughal entourage shifted to Agra due to water shortage.
In case the makers did not want to make much effort to carry on research for the show, they could have found ample matter from the adda members 😆 - aapne gharke baccho ke history textbooks hi dekh letey 😆 - then the outcome would atleast have been believable historical fiction 😛

P.s. seems to me that today also we will get only a jharokha darshan of grown up Salim in the pre cap 😆 - a sure shot bait to lure the audience to watching this total travesty of Mughal history atleast till now 😭 but I am hopeful of a marked betterment of the situation with the advent of our much awaited grown up Salim 😊
