Today, 23rd April, happens to be World Book Day, and so Telly Buzz caught up with TV actors to find out about their favorite books and especially ones that have touched their heart and changed their lives.

Shashank Vyas:

My favorite books are You Can Win and The Power Of Subconscious Mind. I started reading when I was struggling for work. It helped me grow as a person. I feel that reading also broadens our mind and helps us to look at things from a different perspective.

Shashank Vyas: There is a scarcity of good writers in the industry

TV actor Shashank Vyas who has done many interesting roles, the most important being Jaggya in 'Balika Vadhu', feels that TV shows have to go a long way so far as writing and content is concerned. He says, "There is really a dearth of good writers in the industry. We are still churning out regressive content every day. We need to have more finite show, concrete stuff and entertaining for viewers. Also, we talk of women empowerment on one hand and on the other hand we show regressive stories where one woman is making life miserable for another woman. This has to change."
While TV shows are mainly about saas-bahu politics, many makers also continue to attempt remakes of Bollywood films into TV shows. The plot and concept is many times inspired from Bollywood films. Shashank is also quite vocal about not following them. He says, "We should not attempt to make remakes of Bollywood films. We should let them be. Instead we should look for other stories, our Indian literature is so rich that we can always pick stories from them and make them into TV shows."

Shashank who has undergone a makeover and achieved a six pack physique felt that he wanted to do this for better roles and keeping fit. "I did not lose much weight, the idea was to become fitter and look and feel good."

A host of TV stars attended a book launch in South Mumbai. The event was held at a five-star and was a high tea affair. We spotted actors like Ayyaz Ahmed, Dalljiet Kaur, Pranitaa Pandit, Rehaan Roy, Arjun Singh, Tinaa Dattaa, Shivin Narang, Shashank Vyas, Himmanshoo Malhotra, Srijita De, Ishita Ganguly, Arti Singh, Akshay Dogra amongst the more prominent names. Rahul Bose was seen chatting up with the writer, Dr Yusuf Merchant, who is a clinical psychiatrist dealing in substance abuse cases. Veera actor Shivin was a complete charmer and was seen chatting animatedly with Tinaa Dattaa. Shashank Vyas, too, looked amazing and bagged a lot of compliments for his body transformation. Himmanshoo Malhotraa actively spoke to people about Dr.Yusuf's book. Looking stunning in a red dress was Mreenal Deshraj whom we know as Janhavi Oberoi from Ishqbaaz.

Pranitaa Pandit, who was last seen as negative lead in Kasam Tere Pyar Ki, had invited her friends and made sure to keep them comfortable. Tinaa Dattaa looked great in a blue dress with slits. Adding oomph to the event was Sreejita De in a mazi dress. Shiny Doshi looked wonderful in a printed dress. Stay tuned to Bollywood Life for more scoop and updates!

The gorgeous beauty, who wooed her audience with her acting skills in Colors popular daily soap Uttaran opposite Rashami Desai and Nandish Singh, is having a blast in Indonesia with her fans and friends.

Tinaa Dattaa, who is currently enjoying her trip in Indonesia with Shashank Vyas, Shaheer Sheikh, and Vineet Raina, stated that she bumped into them and it was anything but a pleasant experience. "I have been to Indonesia before. The love of fans is overwhelming. Bumping into Shashank after ages have been great. We got to catch up and hang out with each other. I also met Vineet, said the gorgeous beauty.

"When they ask me for a selfie, I just can never get myself to refuse, no matter how tired I am. It feels great to get so much appreciation from my fans. After all, I am who I am because of their love and adoration, added Tinaa.

Not only Tinaa but Shashank also got overwhelmed seeing the love he was getting from his fans. "The people here are amazing. To dance on Bollywood's popular numbers is what is loved here. I am enjoying my visit to Indonesia to the hilt," said Shahshank Vyas.

Ramadan is going on and to see so many stars in the dance show is a visual treat for the audience of the show Pesbukers.
