The way Amara was fuming within when he noticed Devsena in chains. I am sure that gave Bhalla the idea to chain Devsena later He realised that Amara despised that. Even when Sivagami ordered Devsena to be brought back to MM as a prisoner, Baahu brought her back as a fiancee.

I'm sure it was too. In fact, Bhalla wanted to chain Devasena the moment his mother put the idea in his head by ordering Devasena to be brought to Mahishmati as a prisoner. 🤢 He was incensed and shocked when she refused him as a groom, and that's the moment his hatred and obsession for her began. He relished the sight of her in chains for cutting Setupathy's fingers, but his victory was short-lived the moment he saw Bahubali marching into the hall, for he knew there was no way he could humiliate Devasena in his presence.

I'd like to think that Bhalla could never feel total happiness and victory in seeing Devasena in chains for those 25 years, because she never showed any sign of weakness in his presence, and thus he could never see her cry or beg for mercy, which is what he truly wanted. I hate the thought of Bhalla getting what he wanted.
