True, it takes years before a soccer team will emerge that will be able to compete at intl. standards. US is painstakingly making progress with some leagues in place, a good coach hired but talent has to be nurtured and that will take a lot of time.

Have read headlines of army efforts in a tense situation with Pakistan but have not been able to read the details. Last I read, some embassy officials have been called back on both sides.


I jinxed myself, I think for Diwali decorations this year. Was sick and mostly stayed in bed, so the decorations were bare minimum. Glad you made rangoli. I don't but I believe you can get the cut-outs to make rangoli. Hope u had a good one though.


I saw Dangal & Kahani 2 trailers and liked both of them.

yep..started with an aide of Pak High Commissioner to India being caugh spying along with two indian nationals..in reply, Pak declared Indian High Commissioner persona non grata

few more of spies were revealed (not names afaik) by India..in tit for tat, they accused 7-8 of ours and eventually revealed their names

Rumors that AG is starting his own media empire, I read (the headline) but did not know it was with Rupert Murdoch.


US Elections - - Thankfully, the voting ends tomorrow and waiting to see what drama ensues after that. Can't believe the downgrade and cringe worthiness attached to the cycle this year! The bar went so low.

Rumour has it that he had become bigger brand than the channel (that bit is true) and this didnt sit well with the owner Jain brothers..there was lot of conflict of opinion between Arnab and Jains.

I really liked LDC's documentary..it had the right approach imo..I know people will target him stating that he uses a private plane and all..but atleast he is also doing his bit..another thing i liked was the mention of animal farming and its contribution to pollution..this generally gets avoided..they have openly mentioned names of Oil companies like shell and Koch brothers and shamed them. I am surprised there is no outrage?

one bit that was missed i believe is tapping nuclear energy for power generation

On US mainland, since states like California close polls later than on the east coast, a definite picture emerges around midnight though results start trickling in earlier than that. People usually state their preference when they register to vote plus exit polls (7pm but time zones vary) help bring about the verdict much quicker. It is reported that Florida like last time will decide who wins the presidency.

I have not seen the Planet Earth BBC series. Did not know about it till I saw the preview for II that I sent you. Checked on Netflix and its available but is also available on YT. Saw the snow leopard part. Have to watch the other ones too.


Seems like all reptiles in one documentary...pass from me. Me too would be very scared of a snake in the plane. Wasn't there a movie about snakes on a plane?


Northern Lights - if can manage, would be well worth the trip.

Mads M was a fairly good villain in Casino Royale. When I get around to watching Dr S, will let u know my thoughts. Not interested in watching Befikre or ADHM. Waiting to c how Force 2 & Dangal will be. This past weekend saw Force again on YT.

@POW: me too liking it so far..it's nice to see them tackling issues with adjusting back into family life. Hadn't given it any thought till I saw Shawshank Redemption years ago. Will read the uplifting story later & also watch the full video of demonetization. So the terror has gone down in J&K. I m hoping NM also has a plan to prevent black money from being hoarded up again. Taxes collections will aid the government in building infrastructure that India so desperately needs amongst other things. All in all there are inconveniences, but if it works in the long run, well worth the effort.
