Iqbal Khan gets into a FIGHT with journalists in Delhi
Viewers would know, Iqbal is all set to star in &TV's next Waaris. And the press conference for the same was organised in Delhi on 7 May (Saturday).
The actors (Iqbal and Arti Singh) were asked to wait at the hotel room, the media arrived in time and waited for the press conference to start.
Reports in the media state that the press invite said that the conference would start at 1 pm. But till 3 pm, there was no clue of Iqbal and Arti which made the media personnel angry.
When the actors were in the lobby, a photographer told the channel PR, "Naa hi aapka show itna bada hai, aur naa hi aapka channel, ki hum aapka intezaar karein (Neither is your show so big nor your channel that we will wait for so long)."
Iqbal, who overhead the conversation immediately asked the photographer to leave. The two soon got involved into a heated argument and only after the channel's PR intervened, did they calm down.
Iqbal was escorted soon into the press conferences. There, few scribes again complained of the actors keeping them waiting, which got him fuming. But fortunately the situation was brought under control.
A source told the daily that the delay was not caused by the actors but the costume assistant who missed her flight from Mumbai. Only when she reached Delhi by 2:15 pm did the actors managed to get ready and arrive for the event.
Talking to same daily, Iqbal did mention that he lost his cool but also gave a valid clarification.
He has been quoted saying, "I've been coming to Delhi for the last 15 years and have never had this experience. I've always been very accessible to the media. The press had to wait, but it wasn't my fault. I woke up at 5.30am and took a 7.50am flight. I was in the hotel by 10am. I didn't know the press was waiting. Then someone said, 'Hum toh itni der se wait kar rahe hain. Yeh toh itna popular show bhi nahi hai'. I think it's demeaning. I'm sorry that the press was asked to wait, but to say something like that is not classy and cool at all."
"Basically, if someone more popular comes, they are ready to wait. For me, this is an important show. You can't say it to my face that it's not important. If it's not that important, don't come. I lost my cool because of what they said. But after this, 80% of the media stayed back for the conference because they knew I was speaking the truth."
