This case has however achieved one thing. It has shown how blatantly the rich and powerful can pull off such colourful abuse of their power, and the state machinery will enable them to do whatever they please. Killing and maiming the poor, killing endangered blackbucks, and abusing the legal system (by propping up somebody to take the blame for his crimes) - this guy has done it all.

And phir bhi he can enjoy the adulation of all his fans.

I think, that is because essentially - we are very stupid people. Stupid not just for loving this guy, but also for placing our hope on the ability of our state to dispense justice. This guy is evil. The state is impotent. Neither deserve our adulation.

Indians have a lot of black money stashed away in tax havens. "They don't pay taxes," we are told. But the truth is - only the ultra-rich people can avoid paying taxes. The ordinary man in India diligently files his taxes every year. And what does our state do for him? It cannot protect him from the ultra-wealthy murderers, it can't save him from the fury of nature (look at the floods in Tamil Nadu), it cannot give him justice on time, it cannot give him decent education or proper medical care. The state basically fails in every way to protect the citizen.

Also in recent news was the early release of Sanjay Dutt. As if it wasn't bad enough that that guy was out on parole all the time, he will also be getting an early release on account of good behaviour. 🤢

Yeh Bollywood-types - sab kismat ke dhani hain.

EDIT: I am rambling so much. But this matter - of judicial incompetence - really makes me hopping mad.

She and I had once planned on exchanging recipes... She sent me the link to a Pakistani cookery website, and we had decided that I will cook something from there and tell her how it turned out. But this exchange of information and promises of cooking and sharing recipes took over an extended period of time, but I still remember how she was super-excited about this. More excited than anything else. I remember thinking to myself then that this girl's zeal for cooking food is equal to (if not more than) my zeal for cute guys. 😳😳😳
