Hi guys 😊

How are you all?

I am sorry for being inactive. Needed a break from IF.

I want to start a discussion which might sound controversial but I would appreciate your views on the subject.

Do you think one or two religions have spoiled rest of religions and societies?

I am sorry but I am seeing even peaceful, open to debate kind of Indic religions getting corrupted by extremist ideology of Islam/Christianity.

These days Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs have begun to sound like Islamic fundamentalists. They are beginning to define religion in strict ways, they espouse militarism or readiness, preparedness to fight, they have begun to view other religions as a threat (as in conversions etc will lead to decline of their religion), they even say women, children, youth should not be given too much freedom, they should be kept on their place the way Islam does, or we should have polygamy like Islam (apparently because they assume Islam is fastest growing religion due to polygamy, having more kids and "obeying natural order" as opposed to practising liberal, secular values).

Some people have begun to oppose modern values of liberalism, freedom of choice, women's rights, youth rights etc in name of being protective of their own religion. And I think this is impact of Islam! People cite them as their inspiration.

Some seem rather impressed by them given how many countries are Islamic. And they hate why they have no country for their religion or only one or two for their religion or why they have to be secular.

Why? Why so impressed by Islam?

I think one religion and few countries based on that religion are spoiling people!

Sorry to be politically incorrect but I just felt compelled to say it. No offense.

As an actor he has social responsibility , he must spread hope ,not fear.!

Kiran Rao feared for their son's safety and that she once asked if they should leave India. That was a disastrous statement from her .which country would she like to move out to? If she move to a Muslim country where she has to wear a veil/ burkha ,or to a Christian country where she will be put under the scanner for life !

Amir ,the "Satyamev Jayate" host that while on the show,he talked about evil practices, but gave hope. So even in 'Intolerant' times he need to spread hope not fear !.

When did 'Incredible India' become 'Intolerant India' for him? Only recently ? was appointed to endorse the Ministry of Tourism's Incredible India campaign in the past .

Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman -- the three biggest stars of this country are Muslims, I don't understand where intolerance is?

PK' did rattle the belief of Hindus, but Aamir didn't face any problem but was superhit and made crores. Is it necessary to bring out the bedroom discussions in to public domain and put it under the public scanner ? It is a private matter brought out to gain popularity , but backfired and facing the flack !

The other side of this issue is ---

Every individual in this country has the right to express his opinion. And his thoughts can't be dictated by the mob that feels slighted by every word of dissent and sees in every divergent expression a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the country. What a person feels and fears is determined by his personal experience and environment; these emotions are lived, not borrowed from the lives of others and are not subservient to their needs. Even though he is part of it, an individual is a distinct unit of a society. Only the puerile and the pernicious would argue that an individual exists to strengthen the collective dogmas even when they are contrary to his beliefs and experiences.

There is a propaganda going on about so called tolerance and intolerance. I must say India is the most tolerant country in the world, but at the same time we have to admit that because of the political influences and the ideology of certain groups over the societal norms , we are moving towards the intolerance and consequently losing the real identity , that is India is once the best secular state in the world !

Aamir's comment was ridiculous.

Firstly these hifi, richie rich celebs get Z plus security and their ilk never has anything to fear.
Secondly they use their religious identity for publicity but never did anything to actually help people of their own religion. Muslims in Aamir's own ancestral village are living in poverty. WTH did he do for them?

He can condemn India if he wants. Fine.

But what irked me was his hypocrisy! He said we should not generalise Islam when asked about Paris attacks but started generalising India?

He is just a loudmouth. Wanted publicity because he has no film releasing this year so barked to make his presence felt.

But stupid protestors also ended up helping him instead. And let him play martyr.

What I find alarming is other people getting influenced by these semitic religions.

I have seen Hindus and Sikhs discuss if they had polygamy then they too would "dominate" (whatever that means).

Or see a peaceful religion like Buddhism getting violent and extremist now! Buddhism emphasised non violence. Rise of Buddhist militancy is shocking.

There was report of a Jain society member threatening to kill a neighbour who ate non veg. What's this?

Another thing I am seeing is evangelism in even those religions which did not have it.

Our philosophies are losing touch with their own glorious traditions in roots in their attempt to resist or mimic semitic faiths. Or maybe still suffering from hangover of being enslaved by these communities for centuries?

All faiths should stop being extremist or expansionist. Respect freedom of choice, live and let live!

Current trends towards rising fundamentalism both nationally and globally are alarming!
