Eminent film personality known for his soul searching words made a rare appearance on Anupam Kher's celebrity chat show 'The Anupam Kher Show- Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai'. In the show, when questioned whether it is important for a poet to find inspiration in sadness, Gulzar replied saying it isn't necessary. He even added by saying, "Udaasi der tak rehti hai, Khushi agarbatti jaisi mehakti rehti hai." (Sadness is something that is always felt but happiness can be likened to a candle that constantly flickers.) Gulzar believes that poetry stems from sentiment mainly no matter the emotions are happy or sad.
