My Take is this :

In his quest for god, ultimate truth and deep Qs on religion etc, Akbar did choose to equate himself to God, in a sense - This is my reading. But he had some valid reasons from his vantage point to do that ; And it was not definitely out of arrogance but some kind of ownership and having delivered goods. I have no problem with that at all.

Few, these days are considering themselves above god ( present day politicians) without even a single reason; Akbar had enough per his definition of God.

But too much of see saw in his character 😡
