Agree with you Anshu!

industrial development is equally needed to improve the condition of farmers. Agree that India has a big population dependent on agriculture, but what is making their lives difficult is they lack proper resources and tools. many parts of India still depend on natural rain water for harvesting...what they need is proper irrigation facilities and other machinery to make their life easy and less nature dependent. and this needs investment, which will come only when we have people to invest, who are going to be the industrialists of the country. And they will invest only if they get some added benefit out if it. plus as you say these factories will also help farmers and other members of their family with added job opportunities and also the shift to cities will decline. Only subsidies and free water, electricity is not going to help. and from where is govt going to give these subsidies? who will pay for it? we the tax payers. given our total population and then the tax paying population, the burden will be more on us. second will be more debt - and then who will pay it? of course the tax payers. (i am not going to discuss black money, lets say we don't have it)

Appy,

The condition of farmers is same since more than a decade, so i do not see either UPA 1 or UPA 2 doing much in these terms. there have been enough suicides, even if i only take the case of Maharashtra in last 10 years and then it was congress in center and state. But i wont blame the govt completely, because i have also seen reality first hand. free electricity was distributed, free water, which actually put the rest of state in deficit and they had to borrow it from Gujarat.but did this change anything for the farmers ? and when things did not change much in last 10 years per se, how do we expect them to change in 8 months?

make in India is going to help the farmers as well. the slogan is inclusive of agricultural produce as well. but for this to happen technology is needed, for which we need factories and investment and for that land is essential. giving away farm land to build a huge mall or multistory is what i can say is incorrect and complete waste, but not for a factory to set up - if it is going to help the people.

and if we talk about educating farmers on yields and crops, govt does it all the time. camps are setup where in good quality but subsidized seeds and other things are sold, so that the farmer can cultivate with low investment. also use of pesticides, irrigation methods is given. and i am saying this because my husband side is into farming and i mean proper village, ground level farming in Bihar...but in spite of all this things are not very good...because technology lacks. but thanks to full time electricity that things are now improving and they can now think of using proper machines.

I agree that we cannot turn a blind eye to agriculture, but we cannot just work on that front as well. no country can prosper just based on agriculture...you need industries and you need them to make in your country.

Nehru's few policies were good and few were not. Red tap-ism entered in our system since his time. What happens in government offices is not hidden from anyone.Every where you have to take clearances for anything on many steps and clerks became king, no sarkari paper could be passed without bribe. Industrialization happened under public sector, where there was almost no competition. Performances were not related to growth .So not much motivation to give one's best.

Btw one thing I use to get shocked is by watching around us that how growing population is putting a great pressure to provide a dueling for every one. Farms are vanishing fast to give way for the multistory buildings Every city is growing and consuming nearby farming area. Where this all will lead?
I hope there will not be crisis of food grain in the future.

Was watching SBS after a time ( left watching it since the new of Shivji's demise ) , saw 4 out of 5 top shows were from Sitara. Can not imagine why ppl like shows without any head and tail like Sathiya, Ye rishta and for that matter Tarak Mehta too.

Btw Rangeela's SSK entered in top five this week. 😆

More the ghost and mysterious thing , more hit the show . 😡

And we girls are searching logic. 😆

Now I want Shivji to come back as ghost and bring hell out of kidnappers of Nandini in India while Anandi is in Singapore with her kids. Then he can visit Singapore also to be with his little kids and Anandi and still help her with curtains.

If this track had been on Shiv and Anandi both would have been all over the place 😛😆

hummm no wonder I read that Police also had some work 😃 since AnSh weren't there 😭

it is indeed scary...same is the case with places around Mumbai...thane is the new concrete hub now...
but we cannot really blame farmers...they get money and that is their only goal...atleast in mumbai, pune they have factories and stuff to work in, which lacks in rural India.

and you know its not that always farmers are forced, people at times do not really want to pursue farming, because it is a demanding profession with less returns, unless you are from Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat. people see immediate big amount in selling land. and these people they do not really think beyond immediate future.

the positive thing is that in many states now youth is turning to farming, and i mean the educated youth and this can bring a positive change in agriculture sector...hopefully.

There was an interview with Rangeela head.
He said they observe viewers pattern too.

People who watch SSK are not the people who watch BV and Udaan according to the surveys they have done.

If BV or Udaan are shifted to SSK slot they won't do well and if SSK is shifted to Udaan slot it may not do well,

BV and Udaan are basically based on some social issues and story is around those issues be it family drama or love stories all happen around these issues only
So people who watch these shows don't care much for pure love stories nor do they care for pure saas bahu sagas with kitchen politics.

These are basically family audience who want some drama that is gripping at times and entertaining as well also which deals with some thought provoking issues.

What may not be appealing to us may be appealing to many and vice versa
