Kwerky, did you watch the new Salman Khan movie?
And - when the court will begin hearing his case? Wasn't it supposed to be sometime in July? 😕

Nope, haven't watched it. I don't visit the multiplex to watch his movies nor do I bother to catch it as a pirated version. I only get to see them when one of the Hindi GECs telecasts it. 😆 I couldn't get halfway through "Jai Ho". 😕

Yes, the hearing for his appeal was supposed to start in July first week. But has been continuously deferred because the paperwork is in Marathi and needs to be translated to English before the hearing can commence. That's what I read. 🤔

I will probably not like the books then... Grammatical errors should never make it through a professionally published book.
The problem with me is that if I find one such error, I will fixate on it, and will not be able to take the book or story seriously...

Like, yesterday I saw this:

And I couldn't bring myself to read the story because I was already peeved by the headline...
Surely, Sonia Gandhi could not have *literally* blasted anyone. Figuratively, perhaps. But certainly not literally. 🤔
TOI or PTI really must teach their novice hires against using such ostentatious language in serious political reports if they wish to be taken seriously...

Loll@"literally blasting". Sad!

On the subject of Shashi Tharoor. Why is he even in the Congress? 😆 He keeps getting "literally blasted" by the Madam or other party members...and garners praise from Modi. 😆 Have you seen his speech from the debate held at Oxford ...which was released recently...for which Modi praised him and he has become a sort of national hero?

See... now this annoys me so much...
The Talwars are in appeal - and their case will not come up for hearing for another 30 years (in all probability), and this criminal can breathe in fresh air...

Well, I like the speech - but as far as its content is concerned, there is nothing really new in it. He has only just said what we have been saying for the longest time...

When I was still in India, I had not the slightest idea that most Brits actually don't have any idea of the evils of imperialism. In their history lessons they glorify their role as imperialists, and as a nation, they have never actually confronted the evils that they visited upon the colonies.
I mean - just look at the debate here - where is there even a scope for any debate in the matter of whether the British owe reparations to India and other colonies? 🤔 And yet, that they even have such a debate (in the Oxford Union, no less), one can only just imagine the extent of ignorance prevalent in the British population...

I was working with a British professor for a short period of time many years ago... and once over a casual conversation, he told me how the British taught Indians the game of cricket, and should never have left India because "look at what the natives did during partition". I was *literally* speechless at the daftness of that man...

Arre waah! 😊 Kitney din ki chutti mili hai?

Though I detest the crackers and the pollution during Diwali, I just l-o-v-e the feeling of celebrating Diwali in Delhi/India...the festive look of the homes and markets, rangoli, sweets, food coma😆, a slight chill in the air... Delhi looks like an altogether different city at that time.

Ek mahiney ke liye. 😳 I save all my chhutti for Diwali...

I go back home to assist with cleaning up (more like, doing all the cleaning up myself).
It takes a while too, because I am the black sheep in the family of hoarders... Whatever trash my mum fills up our home with in the whole year, it falls upon me to convince her to throw it all away. And a deep cleaning of our home takes forever. Like last year, it took me two days only to paint the pots with geru mitti... I had broken ribs then, but even in the best of health, it takes a whole day to just colour up all our pots...
And then, like you said - the decorations, the alpana, the food... there is no better time to return home. 😃

I've never been too fond of firecrackers... have always followed the "say no to firecrackers" suggestion they would dole out in school... I just wish that the rest of Delhi (nay, India) picks it up too... I feel terrible for the stray animals that have to live through it during Diwali - it is an absolute torture for them...

BTW... I have been enjoying Bhai ke flip-flops today... 😆 😆 😆
Two conditions have to be satisfied for a spectacle to be created:
1. Bhai has to get drunk. (This appears to be a fairly common occurrence.)
2. He needs to sign-in on Twitter. (This is the usually the bottle-neck encountered on the way to a sterling performance.)

Unfortunately, I tend to agree with Bhai when he puts up such performances on Twitter. When it comes to the death penalty, I don't want anyone to be executed - not even Bhai... ☯️

So, as it goes... this morning, Bhai demanded that Yakub Memon not be executed. In a number of rambling tweets - incoherent and unintelligible - he said so very forcefully. 😆
Then BJP demanded from the governor of Maharashtra to cancel Bhai's bail, on the grounds that the convict Bhai has too much sympathy for other convicts. (Anything and everything passes off as reasonable in India. 😛)
This was followed by Bhai getting a scolding of his life from his papa. Papa *figuratively* blasted the Bhai.
Bhai has now retracted his tweets.

I am now waiting for the Governor of Maharashtra to cancel Bhai's bail (if he can even do that)...

🤗 🤗

😛 😛 😃

Now let me tell you why there are all these hugs and smiles. 😆

Your post reminded me of all those countless years when we would wake up early on a weekend just before Diwali...have our tea/milk and get down to coloring all the pots in our garden with geru mitti. 😊Between the four of us...three kids and our dad...we would finish it in a few hours...even though we had way too many plants. And after it all dried up, the planters and pots with the fresh coat of the geru ...below the green foliage...looked so beautiful and absolutely new! Haven't done this in years...😭

It is really funny and amazing...we have a lot in common, huh?! 😊😆

Aaah...one month's leave is good! 😊

Yes, the crackers are a menace...for the stray animals, the sick, the infants and the elderly. And whenever I am in Delhi during Diwali...I notice people have this propensity to burst a whole string of crackers with thousands of these mini bombs...and they go on exploding for minutes at a stretch. That is literally burning up your money, if you ask me. And somehow it tends to start late in the night. 😕 It is unbearable.
