She is just turning out to be a joke and a letdown. I always found her assertive and quite impressive as a speaker...but her handling of the very important HRD Ministry, pushing the regressive agenda in education at school level, questionable appointments of people at various positions, the IIT controversies...not to mention the gaffe - "I have a degree from Yale which celebrates my leadership qualities" 😆😆...has been very disappointing and a matter of concern.
Sure...you don't need to be an over-achiever academically to run a Ministry well (or for that matter, do any job well)...but her actions and policies surely do not reflect a progressive mindset you would expect from a politician of her age. 🤔 Not to mention, the numerous reports about her "dumbness" which irritates and appalls the stakeholders in the education system or her style of functioning which has lead to a lot of resentment within her Ministry/outside.
Having said that, I detest the sexist and misogynist attacks hurled at her. Judge her for her actions, not for her acting profession/modeling or being a woman.
When I was a child, Maneka Gandhi used to host a show on Doordarshan called "Heads and Tails". It was about about her pet topic: animals, conservation, advocacy of animal rights. I loved it, and probably held Maneka in the same esteem that I hold Tina Fey these days. 😆 😆
I realized only recently how Maneka is just 10th-pass (or is it 12th? 😕)... Anyway... the point being - I completely agree that one certainly does not need to be highly educated to make a mark for themselves. For whatever it is worth, if you think about animal rights in India, Maneka would be the few people that you'll immediately think of; who'd ever think of Smriti as having carved an identity for herself in the ministry that she is running?
I admit - when I learned that she does not have a University degree, I did look upon her appointment with scorn. After all, the people who will be reporting to her will all be decorated professors - and certainly the newly sworn-in Prime Minister could have made a more prudent choice...
Recently, I found her speech on Youtube, in which she is speaking about the policies of her ministry - and even though it all seemed like so much bluster, she spoke with such a theatrical flourish, it all seemed misplaced.
On Tuesday, a court in Delhi reserved its judgment on a case brought against her over her false affidavits... I randomly stumbled upon a news site that carried this story. I couldn't find another news site with the story - apparently, nobody in the big media houses deemed it of any significance that a sitting minister in the government is embroiled in such legal trouble, and for such blatant dishonesty too.
Today, however, news sites are all abuzz once again how she is the victim of yet another sexist jab... And probably, that actually suits her motives and means...
This woman is an eternal victim. Roti-dhoti Tulsi is what she is best suited to be... This is actually why I asked the question in the first place...
Did you watch KSBKBT? 😆😆
