Sure...you don't need to be an over-achiever academically to run a Ministry well (or for that matter, do any job well)...but her actions and policies surely do not reflect a progressive mindset you would expect from a politician of her age. 🤔 Not to mention, the numerous reports about her "dumbness" which irritates and appalls the stakeholders in the education system or her style of functioning which has lead to a lot of resentment within her Ministry/outside.

Having said that, I detest the sexist and misogynist attacks hurled at her. Judge her for her actions, not for her acting profession/modeling or being a woman.

When I was a child, Maneka Gandhi used to host a show on Doordarshan called "Heads and Tails". It was about about her pet topic: animals, conservation, advocacy of animal rights. I loved it, and probably held Maneka in the same esteem that I hold Tina Fey these days. 😆 😆

I realized only recently how Maneka is just 10th-pass (or is it 12th? 😕)... Anyway... the point being - I completely agree that one certainly does not need to be highly educated to make a mark for themselves. For whatever it is worth, if you think about animal rights in India, Maneka would be the few people that you'll immediately think of; who'd ever think of Smriti as having carved an identity for herself in the ministry that she is running?
I admit - when I learned that she does not have a University degree, I did look upon her appointment with scorn. After all, the people who will be reporting to her will all be decorated professors - and certainly the newly sworn-in Prime Minister could have made a more prudent choice...
Recently, I found her speech on Youtube, in which she is speaking about the policies of her ministry - and even though it all seemed like so much bluster, she spoke with such a theatrical flourish, it all seemed misplaced.

On Tuesday, a court in Delhi reserved its judgment on a case brought against her over her false affidavits... I randomly stumbled upon a news site that carried this story. I couldn't find another news site with the story - apparently, nobody in the big media houses deemed it of any significance that a sitting minister in the government is embroiled in such legal trouble, and for such blatant dishonesty too.
Today, however, news sites are all abuzz once again how she is the victim of yet another sexist jab... And probably, that actually suits her motives and means...

This woman is an eternal victim. Roti-dhoti Tulsi is what she is best suited to be... This is actually why I asked the question in the first place...
Did you watch KSBKBT? 😆😆

I agree to an extent that what I have here with the Dabbeywala is unclear - but I've also come to expect that the menfolk of this nation don't really speak up, and what he and I have between us can very well qualify as "dating"...
Things have also been confounded by him having to work the museum guard shifts, leaving hardly anytime to write job applications; let aside engaging in any meaningful social interaction with me... Perhaps, had things been different, we'd have gone on with the dilly-dallying with each of us more invested in this and we'd have had more clarity by now...

I should probably do as you say... In a week or two, I will meet the new guy. Hopefully, by then I'll be able to convince myself that I am not just "leaving" the dabbeywala because he fell on hard times. (You see, being overly dramatic runs in my blood-line. 😳)

EDIT: My friend showed me youtube videos of the new guy in a solo performance. I am being extremely vain, but the dabbeywala is certainly way more cute... 😳😳

My pleasure, Wisu 🤗

Ahem...so the Dabbeywalla is way more cute? 😆 Chalo...the Dabbeywalla scores over the Orchestrawalla in the looks department. 😆 The bwoys are (virtually) battling it out for your affections (in your head) even before you have met the other guy. 😆

Ok...your point about "menfolk of this nation" seems valid. But the situation between you guys should not stop you from going ahead and meeting the musician. All the best! 😳😊

Hey...I watched "Heads and Tails" too...loved it! 😆

@"Eternal victim": Smriti Irani would beg to differ with you on this. 😆 There was an interview of her by Arnab Goswami aired in April...it was widely publicized as an interview where Arnab was left "red faced" and how Ms. Irani dragged him to the cleaners. 😆 I happened to watch it just a couple of days back. She kept parroting...and I mean..PARROTING this line - "I am not a martyr, I am not a victim". 😆 While I would agree that Irani might have come out looking teeny-weeny better than Arnab, it was because (a) Arnab is tooo predictable now...his style...the way he tries to "trap" the interviewees etc has been done to death by him...so she just smartly deflected him all the time by her obfuscations...and (b) He really did not have enough ammunition of substance against her (this is based on 25 minutes of interview that I saw...I just lost patience and interest midway😆).

@bold: I would agree with that now. I too read about the recent controversy where a senior journalist/anchor from Aaj Tak allegedly passed a "sexist" remark against her. I saw a clipping where she is addressing the audience and zooming in on the sentence used by the journalist...in a way urging the audience to see the hidden meaning ...and lo-and-behold the audience erupts and boos the anchor. To be very honest, I am not even sure if it was meant as a sexist remark. 🤔(Did not see the anchor saying these lines so I don't know his facial expressions, tone etc) Just like "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder"... Your state of mind can lead to different connotations /interpretations of an absolutely straight and harmless statement...that is what I feel. The sentence - what did Modi see in you - can be interpreted in many ways. I don't know if it was a sexist remark or if Smriti Irani just misunderstood the meaning as she has seen several such attacks directed against her or did she just manipulate an audience into thinking what wasn't even implied by the anchor? 😕

And no...I did not watch KSBKBT. 😆 However, I did have enough knowledge about the show (based on it being played on the TV sets of neighbors/Aunty/Chachi etc ...not to mention the earthquake that shook the nation when Mihir Virani "died" and was promptly resurrected 🤔🤣)...to have concluded YEARS ago that Ekta Kapoor/Balaji is the worst thing (absolute pestilence...if I put it mildly😆) to have happened to Indian television. And I was RIGHT! 😆

Tum dono bhi... ☺️☺️☺️ ... Abhi toh koi bhi nahin hai...
Besides, I don't think that the orchestrawala is good news. I talked to him on Friday evening... Thought that I will just make a casual call and introduce myself... He had a good voice, but on a pragmatic level - rather poor English & French-skills; so I'm kinda uncertain how we're going to function, 'coz I am not up for learning yet another language.
But what has really distressed me the most is his clingy-ness! Since my first call - and in less than 2 days, he has called me up 12 times... each time to ramble on for an eternity... Really, I am so tired of it, and so raging annoyed with my friend who has set this up...
During my call on Friday, I told him that we will meet next weekend (I needed to feel okay about this, and also because I only have time next Friday to go to the hair-dresser); but I am thinking now that abhi hi mil-malaakar isko end kar denaa chahiye tha...

Anyhoo...

Yesterday, I watched "Hasee toh Phasee"... Siddharth Malhotra is so ... But the movie is so trashy...

And aaj ... I am baking a cake for a friend's birthday tomorrow.

Whaaat? Called you up 12 times in less than 2 days? 😆😆😆 Sorry...but can't help laughing. 😳 Three strikes against him now...😆

On a serious note...Yes, that IS incredibly clingy! 😕 Ufff...Who does that...even before meeting someone? I would say that you are correct...jaldi se niptaa do is phone-ki-dukaan ko.

Oh yes...Siddharth Malhotra is cute...there is something about his eyes+smile that makes him so dishy! I found the movie stupid...and Parineeti's character and mannerisms were irritating and OTT.

Kaunsa cake banaya? 😊
