I wanted to post this after the dust settled down a bit.
I didn't watch the movie, so basing my assumptions on feedback from fans and critics.
Looks like MAMR failed due to shoddy script and execution. The only saving grace is Barun. Usually critics are very harsh and and if they trash a movie, they will trash everything in it. And they did not had to praise a newbie actor, they could have easily trashed him.. but he was impressive enough for them to write few lines praising his acting.
One more thing that none of the critics especially the ones's who were aware or watched IPK, never compared to it to ASR nor any fans who watched it did that.
That itself is great compliment since its very difficult to get rid of a certain image that actor is associated with.
As for the people who will be most affected by this Adeeb and MM, I hope they learn from their mistakes. I am kind of surprised how Adeeb could go totally wong, his short film was really nice.
But I really appreciate Adeeb and Pooja for even thinking of casting Barun as a loud, crass punjabi wanna be actor for MAMR at the heights of ASR popularity. I would have had difficulty even thinking of it at that time. But hats off to them for giving him an opportunity to play something very different.
I remember Barun mentioning in one of the interviews that people approach him with certain kind of roles with which he was previously associated, so gets difficult to break that image.
For Barun I have this to say, if he can impress everyone with his portrayal of Sukhi working double shifts doing 2 diametrically opposite roles at the same time or rather on the same day, then hats off to him. He is truly very talented. Hope he is noticed by some BW people after MAMR
And lastly, I am very proud of all MTCC members who gave a their honest opinions about the movie and also for posting all the reviews no matter how bad they were. We are not insecure nor we blind fans who praise everything just because our fav is in even if its an absolute trash.
Nor we bashed the critics for giving bad reviews or viewers for not watching the movie.
