I know some of us are feeling low after the reviews but I want to say that a film which seemed to canned saw the light of the day which is important for any film to be seen by public to decide the fate of it.
MAMR was a venture by all the newbies and suffered by this fact.
Pooja G done her job decently and smartly by promoting it well,attracting the public by giving the best of the film in the trailer which is ofc is Barun,made him focus of the promotionsin spitethe fact that he wasn't in the whole film.
Adeeb experimented too much with his first film and failed in execution,script,casting.
If the film was released a year and a half ago as per their schedule than it can get away from many things but it in this delay the plot had been presented by others so novelty suffered.Small films also get appreciated for the content and good story like Z plus,Bhopal,Ikees topon ki salami.
Music is good but couldn't add much to the overall impression of the film.
Barun proved that he can act and connect with the audience.
I will never say that WHY he picked this film at the peek of his career.He had and has every right to decide about himself.His character was good and performed well that's all he can do.It's the delay in release of MAMR, which made it to look like a bad choice,over which an actor has no control.
MAMR's release itself is a plus as it wont be called canned and will release in 2050... but it did release in 2014.He started to get noticed even before it's release but if will give him more recognition in BW.His work is there for people to discuss,criticize,appreciate,praised,he got the opportunity of interacting with media and public during the promotions which will help in future.
All of us learn from every single day so does he and he is a good and quick learner who isn't scared of working hard and taking risks😃
Don't feel bad about harsh reviews and calling it the worst romcom as I would only say

Girte hain shesawar hi maidan e jung main
Wo tifal kya gire ga jo ghotnoon ke bal chale
(Only brave knight falls in the battlefield(as they are fighting in it) not an infant who crawls(who doesn't try)

It's the beginning not everyone gets the dream launch some has to struggle for it.Yes we all want a dream debut for him but if it missed will try in next project 😃

Rajesh Khana the first super star of BW had a flop debut and after few years of struggle got Aaradhna and after there was no looking back.

Big B had a flop debut and is the actor of millennium since Zanjeer became hit.

Anil Kapoor had flop debut its only Wo Saat Din happened which took off his career now to HW.

So bitwa is here to take his share of success from BW 😃

As you pointed out regarding him selecting this movie, if one takes into consideration what this plot would have sounded like in writing, it actually doesn't sound all that bad. But the translation of putting the written into execution was depressing in every way. My only complaint is, while I had hoped to come out of the theater raving about Sobti, I ended up coming out bitching about everything else. 😆

I am sure Bhaiya is at this point of time having some serious reflection. For him this movie is one big learning experience and well we learn best from things that go wrong.

Pooja ... Since you mentioned that kajol was s wrong example as that was a different era .. Ok .. Ranbir kapoor ka example le sakte hai ? Sawariya was a big flop ... But he has made a place for himself right... AND I doubt that has anything to do with he is a star son coz the people who castes him later are new directors ... And not related with kapoors ...

why did you feel i am worried Sarah😳 Yes some underlying emotions only. So happy with the reviews he got, even the most ruthless critic didn't forget to say good words about him. Thinking how much he had impressed all of them, i get goosebumps. They all felt it important to say good words about him. They all unanimously felt that this talented person deserves a better launch. What else we need as a fan.

I don't know the background of this discussion but I feel that star kids has this advantage of getting 2,3,4,5th chance from industry.

Kareena took many years to tagged as successful actress after giving many flops and mediocre acting.

AB jr is a biggest example of all.

Aaliya Bhatt got a dream debut only because she is from the industry and after that got good projects which proved that she can act and look good.

Arjun Kapoor another industry kid alomg with cousin Sonum.

Recently Tiger S only got heropanti because he is from industry else there are many others who are good looking and talented than him don't get such opportunity.. Ofc nothing can replace talent to prolong one's career and to call it a successful one.

So star kids have an upper hand in getting good and more offers than who are outside the industry and coming from tv is even more difficult so far luckily things are changing on this front.

I agree with you that star kids have a real unfair advantage ... You will get 2 nd , 3 rd , maybe 4 th movie too But my point is .. Beyond a certain point ONLY your talent will sustain you ... So it's not for Barun by any chance but WHATEVER WAS in his hands ... He has delivered with great aplomb and the business the movie generates or not generated in this case ... Will prob have no bearings on his future prospects... Infact TOI has just posted a snippet blaming shehnaz letter as reason why movie was given only afternoon screens ... Apparently they were promised 457 screens but given 200 .. And the snippet was very very positive for Barun stating that he was deprived of the wonderful launch that a person of his talent and popularity as in fan following ... Warranted ...

You know, now that I think about it, I did have a problem with logging out when on mobile layout on phone. Maybe your can try using desktop mode instead on your phone and then log out. It worked for me earlier.

Brooke, lovely words! Thank you! I have faith in Barun that he will pull through from this well. The most important thing that came out of this is the film releasing and Barun getting recognized although film reviews were bad. And maybe he has also got some more good offers right now, since people are noticing his acting capabilities. This is a learning experience for him, not everyone has a Kaho Na Pyaar Hai for a debut. Even then for Hrithik, it took two more years of flops and then a Koi Mil Gaya for him to be taken seriously as an actor. Not trying to compare here, but just trying to say that everyone has a different career path and it sometimes takes time. The film with JAE looks to be promising, so let us see what happens from there😊. So in short, I think Barun will do just fine and he will continue to impress with his work.
