I think it is really time the channels and PHs took a good look at the TRPs and their relevance. EHT and RR are two shows which have tried to do something truly different in the last year ... and they have been appreciated by the telly industry ... so are shows like 24, LAT, ADHY ... but none of them fetch TRPs. While shows like YRKKH, DABH, SNS, KKB, SSK and the like go on and on, and get good trps ... you talk to anyone, and they can't stand those shows. So who is actually watching them, apart from those 8000 TRP metered households? It's ridiculous!
Look at BW ... the same audience ... appreciate good movies, are ready to pay for them ... most small movies which do well, are those which are actually well made ... apart from the big star movies, of course ... those do well for other reasons. And crass, bad movies crash at the BO within the first week, regardless of how well they are promoted.
So it's not the audience's taste which is at fault ... it's the way it's measured. Otherwise there can't be such a huge difference between the taste of the online junta and the TRP audience ... there shouldn't be, if the TRP junta is truly representative. Which it obviously isn't ... considering online junta is increasing in number day by day, and the numbers are already so much bigger than the TRP homes.
