good on you!
i sometimes think that some women do this because they have seen others do it, they also think that if they are tough then they are not motherly enough and it is a bad thing, also i don't know if i can say this but i guess they dote on their sons because they expect their sons to look after them in their old age while their daughters have their own in laws to look after and so hedge all their bets on them!

but you know what they say; a son is a son until he gets himself a wife but a daughter is a daughter all her life! (she'll probably willingly sacrifice more for her family than her brothers will too)

All the girls and women who do the job of women and men should receive an appreciation day. The appreciate women doing jobs without gratitude day where they get a rest and all the others do the job

^^ Agree Arya. When my mother was ill, it was my sister and I that looked after her and my brothers were always busy with their excuse of work.

I am happy with my two very independent daughters that do not take any BS from their cousins or any other men.

i also do not like the women that accept the men's excuse that they work. of course they do! they work hard to earn money yes, but the wife especially spends time cooking, cleaning, being his secretary, looking after children and then on top has to please him and also act grateful for spending his earnings without a single pay in return!
if i ever get married i am going to stipulate that i want to work and that all my spending is mine. i am not going to ask him for any money other than which is needed e.g. bills, grocery etc. he can buy me zilch because i won't stand the line it is my hard earned money which you (as in me) are wasting...well he can do what he feels with that!

my ideal life is to live alone for myself but alas that cannot happen

I belong to an orthodox brahmin family and we do have restrictions on women but one good thing is that there are restrictions on men also😆 So, we have equality to some extent.

My grandmother actually was a progressive women. She will allow her daughters to get a degree along with her son which was extremely difficult thing those days. She was a good mother-in- law according to my mother😆

You know my father had to fight tooth and nail to buy a house for himself. It was almost a crime to have any property on your own. Everything was to be shared and sharing was to be encouraged. Grandmother already had an ancestral home which was to be shared by her sons and their children

Strangely, only my grandmother supported my father into buying a new house for himself while the whole family boycotted him.

OH MY GOD ..my mom n nani shud really seen this space cos they feel i m one specimen who doesn't belong to this world ...😆...from the age of 5 ...I have challenged the RESTRICTIONS thrown my way ..I have grown up in a family with ALL BOYS😲, exceot me n my sister, n u won't believe it the women tried to tell us tht being girls we shud Know what we do n say while boys had their own FREAKING way ..all the time 😡..poor thing since my sis assumed THIS IS the norm she gave in ..while I being the rebel ...GAVE UP N HOW..

My dad supported me all along , and now my hubby too ...I have practically shunned the ones who think "men are superior n women are inferior " ...I have come to believe that we make ourselves into who we are . If from day one we don't give respect to ourselves , others will NEVER do that ..n one living example is my sis ...we both having the same blood n same upbringing ..have an entirely diff outlook of life ...while she is living in dictatorship from her in laws to her hubby n now even her one yr old son ...I have carved a home based purely on partnership ...cos CO EXISTENCE is wht I believe in ..and I hate parasites ...😡

@arya ...even in my family I used to see hos boys got everything n Girls ddint ...n well u said it ..boys are boys till marriage n girls are girls all along ...

@dolly high five ...whether I am in Europe or India , my hubby n I make sure we divide n work ...whether his folks object or my folks object ..he doesn't budge 😛

@nerdy ...OMG same pinch ...u Know I am a decent cook and love cooking for my hubby ...but ask me to helo in cooking for the relatives and I will kill someone ...I tell my mom .."they don't deserve the respect cos they don't know how to give it " ...

@dey tis society has its own issues which will never Change ..u are lucky u have restrictions on boys too but unfortunately mostly in India this doesn't happen ..n tht is why women now prefer to live in nuclear families or shift abroad ...and tht is wht I am gonna do ...bas 😆
