I'm good now - I haven't felt anything, but geologists keep saying they think there can be another somewhat big earthquake coming up soon but obviously you never know...

LOL nope, no mehndi yesterday either. It was a mehndi party in name only๐Ÿ˜† Usually at parties when it's in name only, people at least put out cones if anyone wants to have it done themselves, but they didn't even have that๐Ÿ˜•

How are you doing?? Your Monday has already started!!!

Oops... that is a Ajeeb Mehndi party... Ain't it... A mehndi party with no mehndi...๐Ÿ˜• Man you need to get to India or even SL and go to a authentic mehndi party even if you have to gatecrash... ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

My Monday is half day gone already... Pretty relaxing day for a Monday... ๐Ÿ˜‰

So use your imagination to use their talent for your advantage... and yes you as the owner will own their talent... โ˜บ๏ธ

Trust me, it's ajeeb for sure๐Ÿ˜• Basically some people here have started doing mehndi parties a week before the wedding and then don't have mehndi at the party itself as it's too far away from the actual wedding, but they at least have mehndi cones for people to use.

Trust me, if you guys knew the host of this party, you wouldn't have expected anything more than a meal going into the party๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜• Sorry, I know it sounds harsh but I've known them for a little too long to expect anything more...

hahahaha mera naam main bhi A hai, but you're right - no mehndi to get show that๐Ÿ˜†

That's not fair that it's based on your mood - you have to be consistent ๐Ÿ˜†

How forgetful I am... totally forgot the goody bag and the yummy food and since you are wearing mehndi how others always help you from feeding you to help you sit and get up too... ๐Ÿ˜‰

In my native area (since you guys already know most of those folks are descended from India) the day next to mehndi day is also a celebration... where you invite again all the ladies and allow all of them to come admire the bride's mehndi'ed hands and bless her... So the bride is all decked up again and seated in a chair with her hands outstretched and ladies walk up to her and apply Attar (scent) to her hands and bless her and give gifts to her... This happens mainly in the muslim communities... So another party the next day too... again with yummy food too... The menu was never repeated... except maybe for some traditional desserts...

I don't think I've ever gotten a party favor from a mehndi before - but maybe I just don't remember๐Ÿ˜† But seems like I'm missing out, lol!!

Wow ReRe, that's a whole lot of celebrations. Back in India, in our town, there are just too many small and big functions, but it gets so tiring - don't know how the brides won't get worn out.

Over here, there's a few engagement parties right when the couple gets engaged, and then at the time of the wedding, there's a mehndi, the actual ceremony and reception (usually throw by the girls side), and then another reception thrown by the guys side, but some people now are combining the two receptions and just doing one party that's bigger/nicer, etc

I call the weddings in my area a 7 days circus... because it truly is a circus... and it is mainly a 3 - 7 days event... by the time it is done the bride is so exhausted I am sure she would want to do nothing but sleep on her suhag raat... what a waste... ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

My advice to my nephew and nieces and cousins is elope... use the money you will spend on wedding on your marriage... because this circus does cost a bundle...

Do you know the custom of groom getting on a horse ride... earlier that also used to happen in my area... after an incident (maybe I will tell this incident as a drabble) every future potential grooms refused to go anywhere near a horse let alone get on one... so that is scrapped now... ๐Ÿ˜†
