No one had expected DT to reach this far in the election. Some folks are die hard Republican (DT) or Democratic (HC & BS) voters, no matter who the candidate coz they identify with the party ideology. Add to that the fact that US has had 8 years of Obama, who represents Democratic Party. So some folks are looking for a change.
The jury is out there on the topic of immigrants. Yes, migration of people from different countries is what initially populated USA but nature works in mysterious ways by giving no one region of the world more power over another. If oil & gold are only traded in US $, Middle East has oil and Asia has the brain or labor power to accomplish certain things too. Remove one brick from the puzzle that is world and you can't complete it.
As per the constitution, only someone born on American soil can be President. When Obama became President, there was a lot of talk about him not being an American citizen coz of his father. He was asked to release his birth certificate as a proof, which he did.
Upfronts are pretty similar to network award functions in India except there are no awards but instead they line up previews of their upcoming shows. Some entertainment, some business talk etc. etc. and a merry time is had by all. If interested, you can read about them all here -

Big networks here are ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox etc. Then there are sister channels & premium channels too. For example, Disney owns ABC but has several other channels too like ESPN, Lifetime, A&E etc., not to mention radio stations, film production companies etc. Similarly, NBC is owned by GE & Comcast, who I believe owns a stake in Universal movies. The landscape for channels is immense in US. I don't follow the ratings as I don't watch TV per se, so don't know which ones are ranked above ABC.
Have not had the chance to read on Indo-Pak-China articles yet, so will comment on those later. I don't believe India is alone coz had read when F16s were offered to Pakistan, F18s were offered to India. Have not read abt aid to Pakistan here. Right now media is focusing on US elections, which this year is turning out to be unlike prior years - http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/17/politics/bernie-sanders-democratic-establishment-battle-boils-over/index.html
