Choti, haven't been to the Saravana Bhavan in SF, but have been to the one in Delhi...Not as good as ghar ka khana, but still not bad!I didn't know there was a Dasa Prakash in SF! Have to look for that the next time I am in the area!Have you been to Amber? It is pretty good!Aami, what do you usually have at home? 😊
Asha, I googled both restaurants and they are in the South Bay - in Santa Clara and Fremont I think...
I have never been to Amber, but have heard great things...need to check it out!! Have you been to Dosa?? I love that place!
Asha, we have a lot of Burmese style food and some Gujju food for everyday...we do occasionally have dosa, chaat, mughlai food, etc but those are the rare occasions.

Oh really? Hmm...I'm seriously considering going then!It is kind of funny, I first went to Amber with a Gujju friend! I really liked it!No, I haven't been to Dosa...where is it? In SF?Have you been to Osha? I absolutely love that place!Burmese style food? Never tried it before! What is it like?LOL sorry if I'm asking too many questions, just curious!
Dosa is on Filmore Street and there's another one on Valencia (I've never been to that one though)...I think I just love the decor, setting and ambiance of the restaurant as much as the food!!!
Yes, I've been to Osha and I like it too😊
Burmese food is kind of a melange of different cuisines (Thai, Indian, etc) - the way we make it is more Indian with the Indian spices - but there are lots of curries (which can be eaten with both rice and roti/naan) and soups, which are usually eaten with rice or noodles. I think authentic Burmese food includes a lot of seafood but we usually omit it because half the people in my family don't eat seafood. There's also a lot of coconut milk used in some foods.
There's a restaurant called Burma Superstar on Clement street (Sunset district) that is really popular. I have never been because the lines to get seated there are always enormous and they don't do reservations (I think the last time I checked).
And don't worry about the questions!!!!

I really need to explore SF more, which is going to be possible only if I move away from the malls and Ghirardelli square LOL.Burmese food sounds delicious! Will try it sometime! :)

Forget Ghiradelli - go to Fenton's (in Oakland/Piedmont)!!!!! Your 32 sweet teeth will love the ice cream sundaes there😊 Though there's no malls in that area😆
