I am impressed... that you can speak Tamil and HIndi too! it's easy for kids growing up in india, but here, one indian language is hard enough.

These days kids in India atleast in the place where I live speak only English 😔 My kid was speaking excellent malayalam and Tamil, now ever since she started school it is all english for her..

Bwahaha! Maybe I'd understand your Tamil then- Chennai Tamil is hard for me to understand. We celebrate Vishu and all- My family is super weird in terms of Indian culture- we're like a mix of random things.

Also, Gita Di, it honestly seriously depends on how much parents emphasize it- my best friend is fluent in Punjabi and Hindi, but I have other friends who can't understand a word of Hindi. Depends on the family. My parents just constantly speak in Tamil or Hindi, so I'm always exposed to it.

I completely understand the mix you are talking about.. We celebrate festivities of 3 states...Kerala, TN and AP... My parents lived in Hyderabad for 14 years and so we caught on to their festivities too... So we have 4 new years in a year - the English, Ugadi, Tamil New Year and Vishu 😆

you are right. WE don't emphasize on hindi cause we dont really speak hindi at home. and most of our our friends are telugu too... but I do insist on the kids speaking telugu, and although their accent is atrocious sometimes, they can speak it.

You parents must be proud of you!
