Its not only us who think that Raj holds bitterness towards Sushant. One of the readers posted similar views on the Filmfare website. However, I do not agree with the latter half. He may not suit lead roles like the one Salman does but can do the ones like that in Shahid.

Disagree, disagree and disagree with RKY totally. I have been saying right from the time we came to know Sushant was part of the movie that Ishaan was the link between all the characters. There was a reason I always wanted Sushant to play Ishaan even when some were saying Govind is the main lead. Ishaan also had a track with almost every character in the book- Omi., Vidya, Govind, his father, Bitoo Mama, Ali and so on. Only problem was that since Govind was the narrator, so he obviously could tell about things/events/scenes that happened with him in more detail and in conversation form, whereas the tracks/relationships of other characters were wrapped up in few lines. Also, Chetan failed to develop the tracks properly in the second half, but their foundations had been laid in the first half. Storywise, ALL of them had a lot moving, not just Govind, and more so in case of Ishaan cos he was involved in almost every character's story- Vidya, Govind, Omi and Ali. In the book all of it did not come out properly but in the film it did as there was no narrator and they showed it just like a story with everyone's story being told. No wonder then that Ishaan ended up looking like the hero of the film.

I've always felt the 'supporting character/best friend of narrator' is often the most impactful character in Chetan Bhagat's books (leaving 2 states as there was no scope for such a character in that book). Chetan also uses them to give out the message in the story. Right from Ryan in 5 point someone (Aamir Khan's character except that he got a heroine), Vroom in One Night at a call centre, Ishaan in 3 mistakes, and Raghav in Revolution 2020- the so called supporting heroes are usually well sketched, have strong personalities, 'hero like characteristics', clear hearted, clear minded, and Chetan always describes them to be handsome. The narrator on the other hand, is usually described as an average looker, not very attractive personality wise, but always has a love interest in the story and gets her too. (basically Chetan models them on himself) It actually makes sense if the filmmakers project the 'supporting character' as the hero (given that they have a substantial story in the plot), bcos Chetan HIMSELF projects it that way- the supporting character is the dashing, impulsive, hero who is the voice of the youth, while the narrator is the silent, observer, more like the common man himself.

Honestly, it was never difficult to guess that Ishaan would emerge as the hero of KPC. Chetan putting the DP of Sushant/Ishaan as his twitter DP just reaffirmed my belief. Without a narrator in the picture, the screenplay of KPC and particularly the ending makes Ishaan look like the hero anyways, even without a heroine.
