Aisa kya? So now I'm wary of this new show but in all honesty desi soaps always play to the lowest common denominator. If the Elinor and Marianne characters are written and performed well that may make it worth while. I haven't watched it at all yet - still very wary of desi soaps. Will wait for more feedback from my cousin before I decide whether to give it a shot.

No reccos for TV but I finished Americanah by Adichie and liked it very much (first half more than second). It's particularly worthwhile for non-white women who've immigrated to the US - there so much that resonates and it's written with great humor and affection.

Confession time...read somewhere a while back that Ms. Kapoor had said that she had taken the story and characters, and made it and them her own...not the kind of thing I wanted to hear when you are talking Ms. Austen😆 That is why, am being a bit wary. 😉
The lead actress did a commendable job though.
So Americanah goes on my read list...thanks!😃
Great catching up with everyone...thanks for the company🤗
Heineken🤗...those Dilli days😡 ...and all the emotions in between!

Doc, you from Blore? Oh yes the election buildup was huge this time around. The summer is really hot this year around but still the voter turnout was huge.Let's hope they have voted for the right candidates.

Read the takes on Khosla ka Ghosla, thought I would be able to squeeze in the watch but moving houses and changing jobs hardly gave me a breather. But looks like the movie is not to be missed, will see if I can catch the movie on TV sometime.

Hi Sangha/Savs/Visiji - hope all are doing well.

Hey Sarada - good luck with the new job and all best in the new home. Kinda, sorta - I've never lived there but my parents and in-laws have lived in Blore for a while now. Yes, I heard that they needed air con and that's rare for Blore.

Visi, high five on election discussions with mom. My mom was impressed with the maid's awareness of the candidates - she (the maid) voted BJP specifically for the candidate based on his electoral promises and her husband for the AAP, again for specific electoral promises. My mom said she was a bit shamefaced that she didn't know much about the candidates and simply went with my dad's choice ; he of course could write a thesis on the elections! 😆

Visi...sab kushal mangal here...just tooo hot...its 34 degree celcius already in Kolkata at 8 am and will be around 40 degrees in the afternoon. Its so difficult to do any outdoor activity...

Doc, Kolkata will vote on the very last scheduled date, viz, 12th May..
As fot Two states...KJo was understated here for once !! Give it a dekko...cliched N-S depiction is not there. I am with you on these cliched depictions...everytime I watch a Bollywood depiction of a Bengalee as a fat bespectacled monkey cap clad man/lady mouthing 'rosogolla' ,I cringe and cringe and cringe...we Bengalis are smart, fashionable and quite modern with good command of the Queen's language, unlike the Bollywood potrayals.Similarly, South Indians are not always nerdy and poker faced people. Bollywood needs a fresh perspective ...

The same is the case here in my household. The maid voted for BJP but half of her house voted for AAP. Looks like AAP is going to be the balance tipper in this elections making it a 3 way contest. And the canvassing was done door to door. My younger one was so interested in whom I am voting for but then I told her I can't vote as I am not an Indian citizen, She was so disappointed. She so wanted to see the ink mark it seems.

I hear ya, Jujube... the cliches are intolerable. All the Bongs I know are extremely erudite, cultured so I don't know where the stereotype in BW comes from. Still a ways to go to vote then...

@Ash: 😆 Nilakeni certainly has the economic muscle to have got the word out, but let's see if he connected with the electorate.

Ladies, me three. Time to check out. It was lovely to do some catching up. Rabba Ve 🤗

We went to Captain America on Saturday and the movie screened before it was 2 states. The crowd was mostly youngsters, looks like the movie was hit with the young crowd. But agree with you on the portrayal of N-S people in our movies. I read the book but didn't like it and left halfway.

Hello Hi Ladies,
Savs, mafi for not joining MoM this month. But I need one more week to get out of the sink hole. Spent 3 days, sleeping, eating and walking around Georgetown and downtown DC. Needed the recharging desparately.
KKG, is a moviw that has been on my must watch list forever, buthaven't watched it yet But promise to catch it as soon as i can. I cannot not watch a MoM. Loved reading all the takes though.
Doc, sorry missed you. Been a while.Hope to catch you next time.
Visi, just 10 more days to May 1st. And your dad looks like Naveen nishchal??? I always liked him😊
Sangha, with you on the sterotype. It's extremely irritating.
Ash, you globetrotter!!!! Must have been fun running into mamaji. Was he aware how much he was missed?
Psy, good luck with new job and settling in the new house.
